Waiting list candidate

Hi guys i had an interview recently and i got put on a waiting list, i have since applied for another position by e-mailing royal mail.

has anyone here been hired after being put on the waiting list? if so how long until i can expect to find out?

ring them ..when i first joined i was offered a job quite a bit away from where i lived ..so said i would wait till the local office had a vacancy ..a few months later i saw there were vacancies there ..but they had not contacted me ..so i rang ..and got accepted ..you could end up waiting for ever otherwise

i've been on waiting list twice and nothing has come of it.
2nd time i rang them when a vacancy was advertised and was told to just apply in normal way.
so don't really understand the waiting list idea ??

well the e-mail i got told me to e-mail when i saw a vacancy in the area... i did this and i have had two responses so far;

both of which say along the lines of 'someone from the recruitment team will contact you shortly. Not sure how long shortly is though.

Once I passed the interview, etc., I got in by bothering the HR contact I was given.. but in a nice way, obviously. I phoned her up once or twice a week to see if there were any vacancies and eventually she relented.

I got the same email, I emailed them the next day when a new vacancy came up and then the day after that I got a phonecall telling me Id got the job, I think I was fairly lucky though.

That was 2 or 3 weeks ago though, my online application says my security checks have passed but so far I havent got a start date yet...

I was on a waiting list for 3 weeks when I got a phone call of a job offer. Quite pleased I was on the waiting list and not offered the job I went for as the original job was less hours and another office 5 mikes away. The job I got after being on the list is in my home town just a 3 minute cycle ride and more hours than the one I didn't get!

well im still waiting for the contact from the recruitment team, but as its weekend im not expecting anything until at least monday.

Further contact?
After getting the offer by phone I think they sent out some paperwork which I filled and returned. Then waited 3 weeks for CRB check, then had induction a week or 2 later.
It's not the fastest process in the world

well i had a phone call today, got a conditional offer. so after CRB checks i should have a job

When I started it was farcical. Firstly, I was ofered a job at, lets call it x, delivery office. Then I was contacted and told that they didn't actually have any vacancies and I would be put on a waiting list. I then got a phone call from another delivery office in the next town, saying I could start there. This was all agreed, until the day of my induciton, when I got a phone call saying to go into the original one I applied for the next day . My pay slips still show the wrong one, I'm hoping this doesn't cause any issues at some point when they realise I'm not and have never worked there...

Get it changed quickly - over the next few years because of the oft mentioned BT2010 different units will be getting different lump sums so if they have you at the wrong office you may get overpaid or even underpaid. We are also about to get all our pay details changed so it may bollox that up as well.#

My advice contact HR quickly before it snowballs.

Sorry to piggy back onto this topic, but i've got an interview coming up next week for my local DO, i work for POL at the minute but want to move to RM, I have to bring all my docs to the interview, but my driving licence is in my parents address (I'm a student living in halls) but its a "occasional driving position" and says in bold that your driving licence must reflect your current address. What should i do? I called the DVLA and they said a new licence would take 2 weeks... my interview is in one week... Does anyone have a number for Recruitment so i can speak to somone?

I did mention it to my manager about a month ago but nothing seems to have changed. Best to give central HR a ring?

You can vote in local government elections at home and at your term-time address, so there must be some understanding about students living in two places. The CRB check asks for your main address if you're a student I think. Especially if you're living in halls of residence they should understand about it.
