Calling Or Txting Specials By 1pm & Using PDAs For Specials!
Ok few things regarding ALL things Special Delivery.......
1 = If you confirm NOT delivered on a PDA do you still have to contact the PHG before 13:00 to alert this? As looking on the audit trail of some of our specials they show as been confirmed TWICE as the PDA does it at say 09:00 on the doorstep, then the PHG confirms it again at 12:30 onwards it looks like it was attempted delivery TWICE!
2 = When using an epod card and you dont have a phone or forget to tell of a shut special before 1pm and the PHG has confirmed the special as delivered can the PHG change the status of the special to not delivered at say 13:01 onwards or do they have to wait till the next morning? As has been the case in my office, problem is the status shows on the track n trace as delivered till the PHG changes this the following morning!
Any input into the going on of specials and the procedures used in your office would be a good insight, cheers folks!

Unless they give me a phone then I'm not confirming anything with them, everybody should be taking this line.

The PDA should be all they need, but as we know too well, it's a piece of RM technology that doesn't work properly.

PDAs biggest piece of crap going. The only technology which breaks just at the customers door then takes 10 mins to reboot. The union should be advising us not to use them anymore. Biggest piece of crap going.

we use only a pda ,shouldnt need anything else ,no one has said any different, if you want to be sure about specials then go thru the log off procedure as when youlog off it sends any unsent items thru and then log on again , but to be honest if youve done your special using a pda and delivered it thats all you can do...................

Special delivery, the holy grail of RM products and it's a mess at some places, you couldn't make the s**t up.

I think the problem is as follows.Yes the PDA's do confirm the delivery in the sense that someone can go on line and see it as delivered. As a PHG,well they dont have them anymore, in my office we scan all SD's in on an RMTTG gun, which is different system to the PDA.So in effect I still have to be notified by 1415hours at the very latest to send off the SD status to HQ, otherwise it will show up as an office failier even though you have scanned on your PDA.Its a pitty the 2 systems in use are not compatible with each other as it would save a lot of hassle. Also your next point about double scanning it just cancels the previous scan and that will show on the audit.Hope this is of help .

it's about time RM removed this 1 o'clock guarantee anyway. In our office footmen have no chance of delivering them in time so drivers have to take them all, they subsequently have to break off to get them done in time then go back to 'as you were' doing the packets.

Unless communications are suspended on the PDA for some reason, why would you need to confirm delivery or otherwise?

That is wrong. The RMTTG gun and the PDA’s update the same system in the end.darren d wrote:I think the problem is as follows.Yes the PDA's do confirm the delivery in the sense that someone can go on line and see it as delivered.
Specials are received into the office and are allocated to duties using the RMTTG gun. If the delivery is successful with a PDA then there is nothing more to do on the system. If it is an unsuccessful delivery with a PDA then all that is needed is to book it back into the office on the RMTTG gun. There is no time limit. The only time that you have to confirm Special Deliveries on the RMTTG is if they have been done on an old delivery card.
Hope this helps.

1 reason for this showing as attempted twice is because your dom (or phg maybe) is on the fiddle with his quality figures, what he is doing is called confirmation by default and is not supposed to happen, this process was banned a long while back but if you do it it doesnt show up unless someone is specifically looking for it,
2 again same issue he should not be confirming any walks on the rgmtt guns like this he in effect is hiding failures, he should not at any time be putting through items as delivered when he does not know the status of them, how he finds out the status is a management issue, either he provides means for you to let him know they arent delivered or gets someone to deliver them with a pda
