'Waiting list candidate'.

Hi all,

I recently passed all my assessments on the 7/9/2011 for a postman job in Keighley. I received an email telling me I was successful but unfortunately they couldn't offer me the place due to other successful candidates. The email did however say they would notify me if anything nearby arise's. I have been regularly looking on the website and found a postman job very nearby. I applied saying I was a waiting list candidate like the email told me to do. Would this put me in good stead for this vacancy over someone newly applying?

I was put on a waiting list after applying for a casual job and 3 weeks later was offered a 25 hour 'proper' contract at a different office. The impression | got from my manager a few months later was that if an office needs vacancies filled quickly they will take from the waiting list but some managers prefer to interview and select candidates themselves. It will depend on what office needs who and when. You could always ring the office you are interested in and ask to speak to the manager. I cant see how this would hurt.
