A D2D whisper

There are some guys in our office that get hammered with d2d EVERY week and others like me who might get 2/4 a month.

Its been suggested that d2d volume has fallen far far short of RM expectations and that the £20 odd 'pay rise' might be adjusted to reflect this.

I'd normally put it down to moaning and groaning but have heard this from 'people' I wouldn't have expected it to come from. Anyone else heard anything?

No, but I do have another couple of questions on D2D.

1.How many D2D is supposed to trigger them coming together as one in plastic sleeves? From memory I thought it was 6 lots.
2. Has anyone had 6 lots and if so, did they come in plastic sleeves.

That's strange - they've been telling us since the changeover that we don't get paid for dtd any more and that it is to be treated as mail
- I was hoping they were going to increase the "delivery supplement" to reflect the massive increase in the volume of packets and size of walks under the P&L revisions

Did you really think that would ever happen?

They will never come in plastic sleeves as it would be too easily for the person they're being delivered to to bin them without reading them. At least when they land at random there is a chance (however remote) that one will actually be of interest to them. For that reason there is no chance of it ever happen - what company would pay for their d2d to be lumped together with d2ds from other companies in the same envelope?

The only part of BT2010 that relates to the incorporation of D2D into one sleeve is this...

The CWU will be involved in quarterly review meetings, which will provide an opportunity for the CWU and Royal Mail to review operational challenges, product developments, and work together to identify new products and further growth opportunities, including the potential for automation which will be driven by commercial viability linked to volume

the current d2d situation has made the job a lot more difficult .part time..floaters and reserves copping the worst of it .up to 6 lots of d2ds was never going to work and the union should hang their heads in shame to have let this occur .it should now be reverted back to the old system

Thousands of pounds worth of CSS machines lay idle from 10am-10pm surely with a few tweeks they could be set up to automatically collate the D2D for us so we could receive them at the DO on Monday in trays and they could be thrown straight into the frame without having to put them together (or inside the biggest item - not that I ever do that of course)

If we have already agreed that the delivery supplement is not for delivering D2D's how do the drivers and phg's get it for doing nothing?
Almost all of the PHG's and packet drivers were originally in receipt of at least the £12.37 early shift allowance.
That money was thrown into the pot to help create the delivery supplement.
Are you offering to hand that back?
