collection timings impossible

hello to all this being my first post,
as a collection driver i find the time given to complete the collection is impossible, only allowing 2 minutes per stop, can you safely drive to the next box, park safely, get the bag from the back of the van, lock the van, select the correct key, unlock the box, empty the box, change the tab, try and get the pda to scan, lock the box, check its locked, return to the van, place bag in the back, get back in van put seat belt on. in 2 minutes? i dont think so, in fact i know you cant. the only thing you can do to make your collection work is to speed, not wear the seat belt, keep the bag of letters in the front, dont bother with the tabs, etc. yes we all do it. if timings are given then it should be for the job to be done safely and correctly, by imposing these impossible timings upon the collection drivers isnt r.mail saying the only way to get the job done is to break the law? or you can always over run into your break?( possibly why its placed at the end of the collection.)

I do collections in the afternoons and it's the only part of the job where I actually have enough time and don't have to rush like a lunatic.

OK,it sounds like another office that is getting the s**t kicked out of it because of w****r/freemason bosses. I will say this again,(and again and again and again).

Get your collections rep,your routes have been put on the default pegasus timings of 2 minutes. Box to box varies.Each point needs to be done manually. I would ask who did the revision but I am scared as you might say its the "s**t CWU rep".

PM me,(I always ask this and no-one does!). I will let your branch know.

It might be a bit off topic and I do apologise. When people have PM'd me and I have got in touch with their branch,(and this is very very true). The branch always informs me that that particular office who has pm'd me is a scab office. I am lucky enough to have access to area with membership density,(yes I am sad!). When I do check the office/hub,(who have asked me for help,that office has minimal membership.

I wish I was wrong but I do check these things out!

I always thought the Timings on your sheet were the Earliest that you could empty a box, so if your arriving after this time it's not a problem. Fair enough Businesses and Post Offices have a tighter time slot. If we had a problem with a route, which was repeatedly ignored by the Manger, we'd simply do the best we could. The collections would Fail, it would get flagged up outside the office, the manger would get his wrist slapped and Surprise...The problem would get sorted!

Collections are even worse than Delivery Duties from our point of view. There's no way any manger is likely to be around later in the day. Collections Fail through various reasons..vehicle break downs ...blocked roads...accidents etc and you've just got to get on with it. In the morning you get collared and asked why it failed.......They always seem to look at you as if you're telling porkies!

thanks to everyone for the replies, the collection duty i do at present includes boxes that i'm allowed 90 seconds to do, so i have to i have to be able to empty 2 boxes in 3 minutes, and these are no side by side boxes, these are totaly different areas, its true that the times are the earliest you can empty the collection points, but do you have a manager that says that all the timings are achievable, i do, and dont question the manager otherwise some of the easier collections are replaced with heavy ones, so ive learnt to keep my gob shut. and dont dare claim overtime otherwise your questioned why do you need the overtime, something wrong with you?,this is the type of attitude from the managers. managers who take all the heavy collection points off their favorites and swap them with lighter ones. so you get a crap collection and the faves get an easy life. we all know it go's on, its not seniority its just if your face fits in r.mail.
