No Annual Leave allowed in December

Just been handed a sheet to fill in for next years holidays, where December should be it reads, "NO leave allowed in December DSM directive" according to the DOM this has been agreed between CWU & RM.
I think he is talking rubbish again.
Can anyone tell me if this is agreed.

Its probably a local agreement but ever since I joined we have had a block on leave from the first full week in Decemeber till Christmas Day itself. Of course all the senior guys tend to select Christmas/New Year week.

December used to be restricted after first week for us but was nothing on this years sheet.It did say however we are only allowed a maximum of 3 weeks off during summer.

I have worked here for 8 years and this is the first year that December has been blocked and also the week between Xmas and new year is blocked, your right about the senior guys though,it's always them that booked up December.
It doesn't really affect me as I wouldn't get them weeks anyway but have asked union rep to check with area rep as I am getting sick of being told what we can and can't do everyday.

RM only class Xmas Pressure as the 2 weeks leading up to Xmas......yet they f**k it up every year because it sneaks up on them!
We had no problems with A/L in the past until they started messing around with stuff that did'nt need fixing i.e. the whole of the business! Considering they keep spouting 'the mail is dropping off' xmas should be a breeze with no backlog

Yes for the last 24 years

apart from the obvious two weeks leave has always been availible, ofcourse since P&L many offices are messed up so now they are trying to stop people taking leave as a result

Worked all of them for last 8 years and we have always got through them apart from last year when the snow caused chaos.

The point I am making is that we are being told what to do without any agreement.

They are just not authorising any leave during December - it's always been that way in our office, except for the week following Xmas day.

well in the 10years ive been here we have never had December hols apart from inbetween xmas and new year
Like someone else said tho with the "huge" drop in volumes this xmas is going to be easy!
