Morning Post a thing of the past ?

The DOM told me today that he expects all posties to start at 11.00am within the next year in our office. So I guess its the end of morning deliveries and 4-5pm finishes now going to be the norm for posties. What do people prefer the later starts and later finishes or early starts and early finishes ? I prefer the early starts.

Do you prefer to start delivering early morning (7.00am > ) or late morning (10.00am > )

Two years ago we used to start at 5-30am now we start at 8-00pm i preferred the early starts

I and many others took this job on because of the early starts. Personally I would rather start at 5 and finish at 1 not just because we get the whole afternoon free but because of the weather conditions we have in this country. I think delivering mail in the middle of the day in the height of summer is going to kill someone off, government guidelines state to stay out of the sun/heat between 11 & 3 so why are RM making us work outside at those times and being out later in the winter are they going to supply torches for later into the delivery when its pitch black.

This is a very bad idea, heat and darkness as stated above is going to negatively effect workers health. I prefer earlier start times.

I love a good lie in, but I'd be more than happy to come in at even as early as 4/5 am to get out and done earlier, it would be better for everyone. We'd certainly clear more recorded and oversized packets, because more people would be in, so that would solve one problem. Morale would also be a LOT higher, when you see 3/4pm approaching and your still out posting it makes me feel horrible.

If they do get rid of morning deliveries they'd probably do away with all driving runs between MCs and DOs on nightshifts apart from where a DO is an MPU. They could possibly send some DO staff out on collections after they've done their walk.

The difference in how I feel when finsihing at 1.30 and three is significant. After about 1pm everything just seems to draag. Customers get arsey, the streets get busier as the schools kick out and you get home late.
