Fixed term contract
I have just finished my first 3 month FTC and have just recieved a letter saying it will be extended until the end of october, when they expect the need for my services is likely to come to an end . How many months , years can they do this as it would be nice to have a permanent contract and not worry about them getting rid of me.

Re: Fixed term contract
I was on one like this (6 months then 3 months each time) for nearly 3 years and got a letter like this every time my contract was up for renewal. Yet they renewed it every time. Then after about 15 months, I never even got the letters or new contracts to sign anymore!bossyb wrote:I have just finished my first 3 month FTC and have just recieved a letter saying it will be extended until the end of october, when they expect the need for my services is likely to come to an end . Run, rabbit run. Dig that hole, forget the sun.
And when at last the work is done. Don't sit down, it's time to dig another one

And that is what happened with me. I don't what the situation now is for anyone on under 2 years. As I understand it, they can do it for up to 4 years by law.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
