What if the house says 'no junk mail, leaflets free newspapers' etc Are you supposed to deliver? I have had people come chasing after me handing them back saying 'cant you read the sign? it says no junk mail!' What if say 95% of houses on a road has the said notices, are you supposed to still do them? or advise them to opt out, but its not always practicalble. When Im delivering d2d with mail, i tell them I have leaflets, the customer always says 'no thanks'.

Yes your supposed to deliver them,RM say they have to officially opt out.I dont though and have changed the totals on my walk to reflect this,only about 10 'no junk mail' signs.If it was a large number I would deliver them though as it aint worth risking my job.

A large number of places have this sign on there doors on my walk.... I ignore it! can a householder sack you? I just say if you have a problem call/contact customer service.

There is ONLY 1 house on my walk that I don't deliver D2D. The single frail old aged pensioner lives alone and has terminal lung cancer and has asked me not to deliver it... under the circumstances I respect his wishes.

Yeah - its a disgrace that we ignore the wishes of the householder. I could not believe that RM was delivering pizza leaflets, when I joined. Even joining the Mail Preferences Service does not save you from this crap.

The RM opt-out service is a joke - its deliberately hard to join and there is no official mechanism for implementing it, on the rare occasion that someone does join.

royal mail will be called d2d mail in a few years time, i pity those in rich areas they get the most junk, ask rural deliveries and posh village deliveries how many d2d they deliver.

Why should people have to spend their time and money getting in touch with RM when they haven't asked for these things, what right have you got putting this rubbish in someones letter box when they've asked you not to.

Because it's our job, deliver everything and if they don't want it then flag it up to your manager and let them MANAGE

Personally I obey the customer wishes and bring the items back. If asked why I tell them that the item(s) was refused by the customer - a perfectly good reason for returning any normal mail so why should it not count for D2D's?

Our customers are the people who pay for a service and thereby pay our wages - everyone else is simply a recipient of paid for deliveries. That may appear a bit blunt but the people who request a door to door delivery for their product promotion are trying to keep themselves in a job and we benefit from that - for everyone else there is the recycle bin.

The people we deliver too should be happy that the DTD items are posted with their mail and not littering their garden paths or left hanging out of the box as is the case with many of the independent leaflet droppers.

The DTD workload now supports our fragile existence as a business and to wish it gone or reduced just doesn't make sense.
