well this week is my first week and they don't muck about do they lol...not even finished my first week being puppy walked and already I'm doing the duty on own on Saturday lol!!! not only that they asked me can I do 6 days next week and work at another office on wed/fri...don't mind as its actually closer to home...i guess I'm gonna learn quickly lol...

Got that the wrong way round surely? Theres naff all to remember really but it does get hard, a lot harder. Usually the walk they put you on is simples and then you get some right old rubbish ones. Been there 2 months shortly and been fine until this week when I have been put on a mare of a round. Don't get to cocky yet ;)

Trouble is once the support is removed and you get put on a killer round and then have to start extending the fun begins

i remember when i started, about 6 years ago. monday 29th november, induction. tuesday 30th november, day 2 of induction. wednesday 1st of december, turn up at delivery office to be told by gaffer that i would be shown a round the rest of the week and pay attention because you will be doing it on your own on saturday! on the first monday at the office they asked me to do another bag off another round because he wouldn't work over! i didn't want to say no cos i was new. i was out until 5pm. obviously in december it was dark! i got put on that round right thru december (christmas pressure was 3 weeks then) and had to take an extra bag most days. ok i creamed the overtime but i was finishing in the dark everyday and i was proper shagged! Lord knows how i stuck it to this day but i did. the moral of this story? f***ing say NO!

I started with about 7 others the week before Christmas about 7yrs ago (full time).2 days training then on a walk,claimed overtime the first day i did a walk,they didn't want to pay it and i was told i needed retraining as i wasn't quick enough.....so had my first of many arguments on my third day!....got the OT though and no retraining,come to think of it i think that was the last time i won a dispute.

It's nothing new. I started 14 years ago and got 1 day shadowing someone, then did the walk myself from then on. It was a piece of p*ss then though, 2 bags Mon-Fri and 1 on Sat.

One peace of advice i would give you is stop the overtime / coming in on your days off for now. Firstly because most people need sometime to get used to it and theres no point in taking on stupid amounts of work when you dont need to. Give yourself time to settle into it your body will thank you! Secondly i found as soon as you say yes to overtime the linos normally circle you like vultures and harrass you until you say yes to get them out of the sh**. Not easy to say no when you want to impress and your still getting used to your surroundings! You can always pick up overtime when your a bit more used to the job mate no one will hold not doing OT against you later on.

Next piece of advice and this one is very important! Check your hours on the overtime sheet and sign your name it is safe to assume that if you dont check the sheet you wont get paid and probably never will.

This will be me in 4 years come the end of November . 2 of us started same office same day .

We got taken out together by the coach FOR A WEEK ! ! ! Then we got split up . Each went out with someone for TWO weeks .

Finally xmas week we went out TOGETHER same walk . So for a MONTH we had half walks or less

After us the new starts had 3 days MAX ha ha ha .
