Letters From Manager While On Sick Leave

I am currently off work due to ill health and being in hospital. I informed my manager that I will be off for 3 weeks and have given him a sick note to cover this. He told me that is fine and even wished me luck.
I haven't had any sick leave in over 3 years. It has been exactly one week today and already I have had two letters from my manager, one of them informing me that I must keep in contact with the office and let them know of any changes in my absence. The second letter was very brief, he asked me to call him immediately.
What is the purpose of this letter? Surely if it's important he can contact me? Maybe he is checking up on me to make sure I am at home and not on holiday. Should I call my manager or just ignore it? My sick note has me covered which should be enough?

Even though your covered with docs cert he's probably trying to see if he can get you back early on light duties. If you contact him and he trys this or wants you to go in for a meeting.Just say no your not well enough . You could also tell him he's welcome to visit you.That will probably be the last you hear from him.

Managers have to send a day 1 letter to remind you of your responsibilities whilst off sick . There is a day 3 letter , day 7 letter and day 21 letter .You shouldnt have to worry too much as long as you agree with the manager to maintain contact on a regular basis in order to keep him updated .Make a note of when you contact him/her i.e. date times etc.

If only there was such a thing as light duties, not in my office anyway. I told him there is no chance as I won't be fit enough to come back that early. He then asked if I could come into work to fill in a consent form but I told him I can't drive and I'm housebound for 2 weeks. So he said he will phone me next week to arrange a home visit.
It seems a bit much to me but this is what he is like, always on my back.

Also inform him that this (what you consider) harrassment is having a detrimental effect on your health. then tell him to :dcfo :ncfo :vcfo

if he wants to refer you to ATOS he only needs your verbal consent ,ring him and give him it , tell him you want a referral .Let ATOS decide if you are fit to work.

I agree get Atos on the case as they are really really wonderful and only have your best interest at heart and will make you feel so valued that royal Mail want you back a.s.a.p as you are so missed.

Is he feck, he is only concerned about the business,by sending out letters
he is trying to help boost mail volumes,have'nt you heard they are in
decline, probably does'nt realise the letter is at RMs own expense......
