How many years mileage do your get or compensation if your Delivery office is Closed and merged with another one ? The move would be 8 miles .

I think it's only those whose additional cost of travel exceeds £1250 pa that qualify for the five years.

Excess Travel and Relocation from 1 April 2010 until 31 March 2013

The ETE and relocation changes referred to below will solely apply to Royal Mail Letters. These arrangements will come into effect on 1 April 2010 when the changes to the compensation terms above are implemented. They will apply to redeployment exercises during the period of the agreement. Existing MTSF terms will apply thereafter.
In order to facilitate redeployment during the transformation period, the terms of Appendix 7 of MTSF (Excess Travel Expenses policy) will be enhanced for those whose additional cost of travel exceeds £1250 pa. For those whose annual travel costs are less that £1250 per annum the current arrangements are unchanged.

Reimbursement for those whose annual travel costs exceed £1250pa will be tapered so that in the first three years, employees will be able to claim TWICE the difference between the cost of the journey from their home to their old location and from their home to the new location (“Excess Cost”) for a period of three years from the date of their transfer followed by a year where employees can claim a multiplier of 1.0 with the fifth year receiving a multiplier of 0.5. The multiplier and tapering would be as follows:

The total amount reimbursed over the five year period would be subject to a £20,000 limit.
ETE to be paid weekly or monthly in future depending on the employee’s pay cycle. As currently an employee entitled to receive an ETE payment can request that this sum is paid as a single up front lump sum payment (which will still be subject to NI and taxation deductions). Such advance payment will be discounted by 12.5%. However, for those people who will now receive payments over five years, only the first three years of recompense can be paid as the lump-sum. Years 4 & 5 will be paid weekly or monthly.

Relocation terms to be available and based on the 2002 Service Delivery Code of Practice but capped at the average ETE for that unit.

Royal Mail and CWU will jointly review these elements of the agreement (VR and ETE) in October 2012 in the light of the financial position of the company and the progress of the transformation programme

Useful info FT. Using the £1250 figure I say if you've got to drive approx 10 miles to your new Office you'd qualify.
If you're burning £30 per week on Fuel = £120 per month x 12 = £1440 so it's a pretty easily "Achieved" figure.

I expect RM will do the figures concerning the distance you already travel to work, as ihatedogs mentioned, you'll have to be an "Additional" 10 miles further away to get the allowance. Our DIM never mentioned that bit, he simply said if you've got to move Offices you'll get it. But he doesn't know Bugger All about RMs policies and it surprises me that he doesn't get his facts straight before WTLL sessions. But what do you expect from these idiots.

When our office closed and moved 18 months ago,even the staff that had less distance to travel got something like £150! a few blokes suddenly only had like 5 mins walk compaired to a 10+ mins drive,but they all lied and said they still drove to work! They worked out the mileage to old office and then new office and you got the £150 basic plus a bit to cover the extra distance,as far as i know they used something like multimap to work out miles. But you only got payment if you used a car.If you used a bus the payment was worked out on how much extra it was going to cost you,bike,walking,getting a lift got nothing as far as i know. Everyone lied and just used their cars for work for few weeks till they got bored of checking!

Bloody hell a whole £150 wow

When an ex girfriends firm moved just 6 miles down the road they all got £2500 and road tax paid forever as long as they stayed in the job. Oh they were also given medical insurance as well
