Should I stay with Royal Mail

Been in the job 12 years and with privatisation, 40,000 jobs to go, mail centres being closed, I'm considering now my future in staying in the job. I'm on a 25hr L/T contract and rely on O/T to boost my wages, and now the way things are going I wonder should I get out of it and do something else.

if you've got the ability and means to retrain and do something else then DO IT!

I would like to , but the way RM works I could be hanging on for years, then there's seniority and I know there's a few in my DO who have more years in than me who want to go. Five to ten years down the line i have a feeling that deliveries might be down to 4 days a week and the majority of staff down to P/T. That's my own opinion , and once a new company or concern takes over RM they will introduce new working and practices new pay rates, etc, and it will be like if you don't like it there's the door.

I constantly complained to my mate about how bad it was at RM and he joined anyway as there wasnt much else out there! The thing is with the economy in the state it is in now what can you do? Personally iam off to uni in september screw working for a few years
