Guilty until proven innocent?

Post by arty_morty »

Is that RM policy? My DOM came to me today to say that a local business didn't receive a SD that they had in fact signed for. They regularly get at least 5 a day and I always confirm with them how many they are signing for. They called and said that they signed for 6 on Saturday but only got 5. The DOM asked me if I remembered what had happened. I told him that I did what I always do. Take the Reg mail in, scan it in the customers presence and get it signed for. He then asked me where I'd lost the packet they were disputing. So I asked how I could have lost it if the PDA shows it as being scanned with the others and why he assumed I and not they had lost it. He replied that I would possibly have to be investigated.

So out on delivery today I had more SDs for this business. I asked if they'd found the missing packet. Their reply, "Sorry, it was a mistake. We found the packet it had been mis-filed" I called my DOM and his reply was "Great, that means no complaint against the office".

No word of apology from him though.
I staged a Roger Moore impersonator festival in my local village. There were a lot of eyebrows raised, I can tell you.

That tells you all you need to know about RM Managers. This one, like others, was only concerned about his (her?) reputation, not yours. :evil/mad

I'd love to be able to speak to an RM manager honestly about this sort of thing... get their side things. Shoes, walking and all that!

I would ask the t.ss.r for an apology. He accused you of losing the packet. Ask for a retraction of his accusation or you will file a grievance against him. Make him squirm.

I was under the impression that if a customer signed for a sd, thats the end of it, if not whats the the point of a sig.If thats not the case what is stopping a customer signing and then saying they hadnt received it. Oh i know video the whole thing!

No unfortunately not.... nothing to say that the Postie might have delivered to the wrong address. Its perfectly fair for it to be investigated if an issue arrises BUT as has been pointed out 'blaming' the postie from the outset regardless is not on but is unfortunately all too common within RM. :(
