VR Letter for Managers

I don't know if this is across the board and I am on leave this week and consequently unable to verify the subject matter, but I went to post a letter at the DO and one of the guys there who is an indoor worker, told me that all line managers had received a VR letter this Monday gone and either way one of them has to go, we currently have 3 line managers and a DOM ...........................anyone else?

I heard that a load of managers had gone to a meeting and were told that RM were looking for 100(?) EVR's
True? I have no reason to doubt it!

OPGs have been in the firing line for ages bout time the DIMs had their share

Wouldn't it just be easier and cheaper to apply the same criteria for NCI to the useless feckless gits that they want to apply to us?

Standard 104 weeks, I have heard some Managers have been offered EVR, some are taking it.

104 weeks is the standard although i think non-ops were offered a reduced package of 76 weeks.

Can you/ANYONE flesh that out a bit... Is it Service length related? Is this likely to be a yardstick of what RM is likely to offer in terms of EVR/redundancy or is it just for the DIMs? with OPGs offered Statutory?

I want evr and am prepared to go for a lot less than 104/76 weeks. SO COME ROYAL FAIL make me an offer.

RM should just demote them all to OPG grade, after a few weeks of reduced pay & vastly increased workload, they'll be leaving RM for free.....and RM could afford to pay our CS money

In my part of London our screws have been having meetings with the big knobs...

ALL rest day cover and reserve screws are to go,various offices depending on their size will lose head counts as well,all those acting to be put back in a blue shirt.
When they asked a senior manager what happens if there are not enough taking up VR's he replied,we will find you a job outside the business as best we can.

Seems those blue shirts in the callers office/those who work inside will have to step up to the mark and take more responsibility!
Things like getting us on the sorting and the like.

Now regardless of what we think of our managers,says a lot about the company doesn't it.

104 weeks? Actually that's not too bad an offer.......remember it's tax free so most will have over £50k. I know at least on of our Line Managers will probably have a bite at it. If I was a manager I'd take it.

Well when I started managers were not allowed to touch the mail at all, nor tip trays, cut bags, move tubs, sorting was at a specific start time and everyone went on sorting without exception, the quicker the sorting was finished, the sooner you threw off and set in and left on the delivery. Now with all the arsing about with start times and leaving times, there is no incentive to get on with the IPS with or without managerial interference because you are only getting out at a set time. Add to that the fact there has been insufficient time allowed for IPS under the IWT calculation and those who were scheduled not to go on sorting are now on sorting............you can guess what the missort rate is like.

It speaks volumes about the company.

Granted .....but you would only be paying tax on the excess and would consequently get around 50K still.
