Background Checks...

Hi everyone. Just a quick question. Does anyone know how long the background checks take before being employed by the Royal Mail? Is it done before or after interview?

I seem to recall that I got a letter confirming employment subject to background checks so I will guess it's after the interview. The whole process from initial application to start was quite drawn out but once I got that letter I think it was about two weeks.

ok thanks. also how long before you got that letter? did that take awhile?

I had my interview in May and started in July. I honestly thought I'd been unsuccessful as it had been so long and nearly took a job as a bus driver but then the letter turned up. If you've got as far as the checks and you're pretty sure your background is ok then I think you're in.

well i had an interview on 6th may...so its been over a week so far. not heard anything back as of yet. my status online hasnt changed from interview booked as yet. all i was told was that everythin now gets sent off. then as i left the manager quickly showed me the sorting part of the warehouse. i dunno. it does seem drawn out.

Does take quite a while for the security checks to go through. It took RM 3 months before giving me a job so wouldnt be expecting any news yet. Went for another job within RM and they didnt even update me at all! Only reason i knew i was on a waiting list was when they sent me an email 6 months later saying i had been removed from said waiting list.

Same here I applied in early October for a Christmas casual post got taken on early December - I think about a month wait is not unheard off.
