will anyone ever learn,been park and loop for about 3-4 weeks now and still have people rushing around and not using trollies,before this came in we already had a duty removed because people using cars and therefore the van driver that dropped the bags and staff off had loads of spare time so managers took the whole duty out and just split the packets with other drivers.guess nobody has bothered to listen to anything as people are now not using trollies and leaving packets cos duties are too big and guess what its the same people that used their cars on delivery.tried explaining that if you dont wanna work over just take trolly,mail and packets to where you can manage and cut off.I GIVE UP

You give up don't blame you.Its the same in our office Postmen come in 45 minutes early then run round,Drivers moan about packets,speacials,and tracked items as well as taking Postmen out quite happy to get done an hour and a half before time.Postmen run round on their walks no joke we have some joggers they say it's good training.The managers keep increasing the size of duties no surprise.I couldn't list the rest of what they do it would take too long but i guess you no.God help us when we go through the revision like you I work with some right idiots.

i have worked night shifts i have seen people coming in 40 mins before the start, rushing about will only give you foot and leg problems and also management the chance to cut more hours out, which they do.
Employees need to slow down pace themselves, this is the best strategy why rush.

sadly delivery postmen all too frequently let themselves down...it is quite depressing isnt it? and eventually we will all suffer.......................

No f/t staff start early and if any p/t staff come in early they get sent through the back.

how come your office has got this when in other offices no one will enforce the corect time for people to start and management use this to bully people who start on time against the ones who come in early where is the cwu .we the start on timers are being carved up helpus billy help us dave .

This is now I believe a Glasgow wide rule - agreed at Area level and enforced by management. (at least in my office)
In fact my manager wanted to start it while we were still doing election material and for that reason I had to argue against its implementation so soon.

If your manager is managing properly, he doesn't need people to come in early.
It isn't perfect and not everybody likes it but ..................

I can't take the credit for it.
The announcement that all early starts were going to be stopped was made by a fairly senior RM manager and it would appear that our Area reps have held him to his word.
My colleagues who have always started at their time should take a lot of credit.
The fact was those who started early were always the last to appear at the IPS. They always had a bundle to finish sorting, or redirections/dead letters to bring down.
And if you've already done 40 minutes prep, what does it matter if you are 30 minutes late out of the IPS?
So the answer to "you are inefficient in the IPS" was always - "that's because you let them start early"
It is early days but I hope it will last.

Saw a postie hopping over hedges etc one Saturday afternoon a few weeks back.

I said to him "you're out late mate" - he replied, "i know,i finished ages ago,but got back to the office early & got made to take two extra bags out".

This is my local office. I dont work there put P&L has been in for 2-months now & nobody uses the trollys etc.

I have never started early and no way run round and i do pace my self

But i have had

Knee operation
Hernia operation
Replacement hip Feb last year
Now right hip playing up and right knee
Been working over 15 years for Royal mail
Is this bad luck or the job
New duties start 13th June going from 426 calls to 730 calls cycle duty extra 30 mins delivery
Fixed day off won't be Saturday (This will mean i will only get 6 Staurdays off a year thats the day at the end of my Holiday weeks)
With the body falling apart will i live to see Retirement

Please is there an answer
Should i go Part time to rest
Or should i punch 1 of our great Managers in the face and get the sack and have a great feeling

You must have about 10 people in your office.

Our managers won't do that they love people like that some of ours come in at 0600 but should be in at 0945 hows that for working for nothing.
