We are just going through the final stages of drawing up new duty structures and a new shift pattern for full time staff that will provide a 39hr a week and 1 in 4 Saturdays off . This is scheduled to be introduced in May . It looks like we might be working a nine day fortnight , which works something like below .

week 1 , you work Mon, Tues, Fri and Sat =34.5 hrs
week2 , you work , Mon ,Wed , Thurs , Fri and Sat = 43.75 hrs
week 3 , you work Mon ,Tues ,Wed, Thurs = 34.5 hrs
Week 4 , you work Tues , Wed ,Thurs , Fri and Sat = 43.25 hrs

You work 156 hrs over 4 weeks . In joint management , planner and union presentation it was put forward to the office staff and it seems to have gone down quite well . If the planner can get it to fit into the office work plan I think this is the way we will be working in May . . On week 3 you get Fri and Sat off and week 4 you get the Mon off , so every 4 weeks you get a long weekend . There are other shift pattern options but this one seems to be the most popular

that is what we have been doing for a while now but because the days are longer managment keep pushing to make the rounds even longer so you end up really needing them rest days when they come around the only pain is that saturday is a normal day and a 230 finish on saturday is crap union should of done more to make that our shortest day like it used to be

We've been told in our office that for the majority of walks in the revision a 9 day fortnight is impossible under the terms of the 2010 agreement, in that all deliveries are to be completed by 15:00.

When we said make the duites shorter and employ more full timers, the answer was the budget wouldn't allow it.

So the 2010 agreement goes out the window if RM can't afford it.

We've got several bods on this scheme, and guess what when it was implemented this week none of them were on a scheduled four days off, it seems all of them are still getting only one day this week !!
