we have been told when the van share comes in we will be out of office for 5+ hours what do you do about brakes etc and toilets my old man told me you are not allowed to eat in drivers seat he was told this by vosa on a spot check you have to be away from your place of work

Two things...
1) The only time you're not supposed to eat in the drivers seat of a vehicle....is when you are driving.
2) You don't have to be away from your place of work...the choice is yours.

if you're out of the office for 5+ hours and you have your brake are you meant to take your brake outside of the office? ie a cafe or sit in your van and have your sandwiches or can you come back to the office and the travelling time NOT be included as part of your brake?

Van share?? shouldn't that be known as team working or is that just me being deluded? RM want us to be more efficent....and yet they plan to do away with one of the most efficent bits of kit we have....bikes!!

Some deliverie are many miles from the office and you couldn't get there and back in 40 minutes.

Well its a bit like this..........you have an 8 hour day, you can only manage to cobble 2.5 hours indoor work, which leaves 5.5 hours to be filled, now not having snooker tables and canteens to spend time in, it's spent outdoors on delivery..................now it would be either that OR lose full time jobs OR take buy down, OR and I have never seen it in deliveries VR.............which is really facing the reality of matching the workforce to the workload but I'm sure that will soon become more apparent.

Well there are none so blind as those who cannot see. Even travelling time in and out is outdoor work. Having whatnots has nothing to do with the reality of the workload on indoor and outdoor capacity. It looks as though this time RM are determined to have every hour that is paid is worked.

Not blind DV,lots of changes at my place,the 2 hr walks are gone.
On an 8hr day,i aint doing 5.5hrs outside i tells ya.
Funny tho,we've too much indoor work now,we can't cope.
