Sun cream supplies.

During the hot weather last summer I asked our union rep if it was RMs duty to supply sun cream as we are now out in the hottest part of the day, He told me to purchase some and submit a recipt to the DOM and I would be reimbursed. I duly did and waited a couple of week with no reply from him so I went to see him. He sifted thru a load of paperwork and then said he has no intentions of giving me any money and it was my duty to protect myself. and of course my rep was neither "use nor ornament" my question is as summer approaches again has anyone been supplied with or reimbursed for buying any sun cream by RM or the union H&S many thanks for looking.

Our office has been told that it is up to each individual to buy protection. Nothing to do with Royal Mail. If you wear long trousers, a long sleeved shirt and the scarecrow hat they have provided you with then that's enough protection apparently.

The new uniform gives you a choice Baseball type cap or Beanie hat, as the beanie hat makes you look like Wurzel Gummidge I opted for the Baseball type cap, wore it for the first time today, came home home with a nice grey band across my forehead.

wide brimmed summer hat, i have two.
they are great, i use it most when its raining, crazy but true, it keeps the rain off your face, head and shoulders but they are for summer use really.

I guess that Royal Mail still think that you are a visitor after only 2 months

Think some people are mising the issue here,Sun cream all well and goodbut thats treating the some of the effects of the problem .

Working in Extreme Temperatures,wether it be minus conditions or really hot is not good for you in any way.
In ice and snow the main hazzard is slipping on the ice leading to broken bones etc.

In hot conditions,I my veiw is it can be even worse.
Drink plenty of fluid = more toilet breaks ,where are the toilets on housing estates?

Now we are starting even later and out even longer in the hot sun ,If Friday just gone was a taster for the Summer,I hate to think what will happen.

The CWU ,are Guilty amongst other things of ignoring their members welfare in extreme weteher conditions,regardless of operational needs in hot weather we shoud be out on the streets early and off the streets by dinner time,at the hottest point of our day.

Instead we are only just into our walks at the hottest point of the day.The cwu have health and safety officer,WHAT DOES HE DO ?
our own local safety officer,is only concerned with high viz jackets any thing else does not matter!

No suncream issued at my office, or plasters or paracetamol incase we have an allergic reaction to them. Its like being at f***ing school! The other year they did issue us with metal thermos drinking bottles(from FLF) that leaked, did'nt really bother me too much because after a few days mine got nicked off my frame anyway

They are not allowed to issue sun cream or have anything to do with it, something to do with H & S as if you get skin cancer you could sue! At least that's what I remember about it?

RM's advice is to plan your walk so that you are in the shade most of the time!

What is wrong with folk, we all chose the outdoor job, lets just buy our own sun cream and have done with it.

We're supposed to be provided tools for the job, whether it be suncream, hat's, bags or vans they should all be provided to us.
