enforced holidays
I arrived at work on thursday to be told i am on annual leave for the next 2 weeks and this was the first i knew about it,saw the planner about taking alternative weeks and he siad that was ok as those weeks were available but had to get my line manager to sign it off but he wouldnt do it saying i should have had a sheet given to me in november with holidays listed on it.I am profoundly deaf and there are a lot of things they dont communicate to me.Is there anything i can do,i am not in the union as shop steward a waste of space has even been doing overtime during review when most have been cutting off.

Re: enforced holidays
these are the times when the union are worth their subs IMO.
i had problems with annual leave and though it did take time and i had to get area rep involved i did get more or less what i had requested.
its between you and the DOM, personally i would join CWU let them help you out.

Re: enforced holidays
It's coming up to the end of the leave year Shakespeare and your DIM is crapping himself about hitting his budget targets so he can buy a new Porsche!
If you've got more than the 5 days they allow you to carry over it's an easy way for your DIM to save his budget (You mention you've been working OT that's "His" Bonus
).
Due to RM being skint (nothing to do with incompetent management at the top) everyone in my DO that's got holiday left has been "Told" to take it now, although in fairness if you don't use it you loose it.
It's nice though when you go into the office to try and book some holiday for this Summer, they tell you sorry you can't have it! I suppose I CAN have 3 weeks next March though!
With reference to your hearing problems, I'd join the CWU and get your Rep to explain the problem to your DIM and perhaps they should provide you with a written precis of what's been covered at WTL etc. If your Reps a Tool and doesn't do anything push it the line to his Boss and drop him in it.
Don't worry too much about it mate with luck your DIM may be one of those to get the sack.
