Tuesday overtime

Has anyone else been told that no pressure overtime will be paid if booked on a Tuesday. I have been told today that it a national instruction from Royal Mail.

My office already works an hour less on a tuesday, so if it's not very light we claim overtime, which is a lot of tuesdays.

Yeah ive heard this one as well. But it doesnt matter what day of the week it is you deserve to be paid for how long you work! Fair enough tuesdays are supposed to be light but does that mean there are no d2d on a tuesday? Does that mean people are not allowed to go sick and so leave you with mountains of prep on a tuesday? Are the vans not allowed to break down on a tuesday meaning you get out late? are puch box keys not allowed to go missing on a tuesday?

As an update to this, it now transpires that NO pressure overtime will be paid due to the fact that we delivered polling cards this week with a 5p unit payment and consequently weren't allowed any. That's despite the fact that I spread my polling cards over 5 days and not 1 minute of my overtime was caused by delivering polling cards.

We had this p/timer start with us about 2 years ago who has got to be one of the worst postman to join RM. He door stepped parcels, didnt get recorded deliveries signed for, didnt do d2d etc and was generally pretty useless. They made him a manager after 12 months! True story! And they wonder why RM is in the sh** with people like this in charge.....

This is a very interesting situation and one which I can see causing major issues in my D.O. Almost every duty is cutting off or working the overtime daily. How then can anyone ascertain whether the overtime claimed or mail left/returned is due to these additional items?

Lets say for instance that I came in a little earlier than my start time and put my daily allocation of one third of poll cards into the frame in my own time. I cannot claim overtime for them which is fair enough and my lino cannot refuse me overtime for excess indoor work as a result. The outdoor work is however a different matter. I will put the poll cards into all of the delivery points I'm visiting with D2D but that will only account for one sixth of my delivery points. I will still need to visit more properties during my outdoor time so how does anyone apportion a reasonable extra time span for those properties which I wouldn't have visited were it not for the poll card(s). I could accept say cutting off possibly fifteen minutes later or booking fifteen minutes less overtime in order to cover this additional outdoor time but no additional allocation per day is frankly not a fair ruling.

I don't understand this at all. You are being given extra work - polling cards. If you go over why on earth can't you claim overtime?

Because you are already being paid on a piece work basis for the polling cards.
Even we can't argue to be paid twice for the polling cards.
