been a reserve for 6 years now, and cop a fair bit of abuse on the way, water off a ducks back to me usually.
but i really get PISSED OFF with old biddys!
today i got an ear bashing off some old fart for not knocking yesterday, i explained that i DID do it on purpose just so i can carry her precious parcel around for a few extra hours...NOT!
but said she's disgusted with me and royal mail as her regular posty would have saved it for her as he only lives a few hundred yards away, and she's reporting me!
feel like shitting in a bag and posting a special delivery to her!

korky,no disrispect to you mate,but royal mails worst ever decision was having leave reserves/floaters etc,it was better when 1 postie did the same duty all the time except for holidays,when im not on my duty i have 2 people who rush like mad and make loads of mistakes,another who takes short cuts ie door stepping and does not do the job properly, and another who likes dropping red bands all over the place,when somebody isnt on a duty regular ,most of them dont give a shite,it just looks BAD on the regular im affraid.

but i did knock, write the card out, knock again, no reply, post the card as always!
but no matter, unless you are the regular posty who knows the person and who knows they can pop back later, i did nothing wrong.
been the regular or not has nothing to do with it, its the correct way of working, it does not mean we are open to abuse!
as all leave reserves are open to by the way,
i get fed up of "well they usually leave it at the back door"
well i dont!

ps...i am the regular reserve for holidays

Well they don't like cover and reserve especially miserable old folks. We can't work 310 days a year as we got a life and have a holidays.

I wouldn't worry about them too much.

Can't says I blame you for getting so mad and wanting to deliver something a bit on the extra special side, but some of the more cantankerous old biddies are probably deaf, set in their ways and a much removed from reality.

If anything, when she gets to report you, she may herself be reminded that her delivery postie will have to start doing his job more properly (as a threat, mind, for her being such a cantankerous old fugger).

Personally, I'd probably do the same for her, but then again, even if I did work in the same area as I lived in I definitely wouldn't be wanting to deliver to the peeps from my own street -- fugg 'em!

i was as polite as i could be to start with, i even offered to personally sort out a re-delivery for her tomorrow, but she was just bitching calling me a disgrace and the regular would not do that to her, she even insisted that i should have still had it in my bag today!! and would rather call her daughter to collect it, i just walked off and left her ranting

A few weeks back I was writing out a P739 for someone who wasn't in their house. Anyway, while I was writing it out, an old bag across the street in a bus queue of several people suddenly started talking very loudly about how poor the Royal Mail service was these days. She droned on and on, and her tone of voice was exceptionally annoying, and it's the only time I can actually recall where I've wanted to punch an OAP. Thankfully though, I didn't. Sorry, Daily Mail.

no disrespect,but some floaters blow the walk holder out of the water
I have held duties and held floating duties
the duty i hold now is a floating duty with a mix of walks and PHG shifts
I can do all the walks faster/more efficiently and without the complaints some of the walk holders generate ,all whilst doing the job properly

Dont you want holidays and days off ??? If so ............ WHO is gonna do it when your off ???? Oh thats right its the floater or reserve .

gone off the origanal " granny bitchin" thread.
but been a leave reserve for 6 years, usually love it, never get bored of same old pogs, and find the usual " twat, my regular leaves behind the bin" comments funny, flip side is i plough over gardens and the regular cops the grief later

told today by union/manager that basically i can get fecked to 1-in-6 saturdays as promised 1-in-4 even for reserves,
i currently get 1 in 6 months unless i put a rest day in,
also new (not advertised) cover duties been given to posties with less seniority, despite this been the rule, my mate got his cover duty taken off him, and nobody even told him!
he had to find out listening to rumours!
unfeckinbelievable!
