Have raised a query with my union rep who, so far, has been in agreement with management. I've found (via this forum ) proof contrary to what they're saying and have been trying to contact my rep to let him know (though dunno why he's not au fait with the rules himself). Whenever I ring he's left / not back, I haven't been able to get down to the DO when he might be there, I've left messages for him to ring me but he's not.
What can I do ?

Thanks again, fishtank. Think I've found the relevant one and will have to decide whether to go over my rep's head. Really don't wanna rock the boat, I'm sure I'm being unjustly brandished a "troublemaker", but I'm forever !! I've never known an organisation like it, none of this is my "fault" !!
Well, e-mail's sent. Trouble is, really I need to know where I stand (annual leave this week. Or not ?) before deciding whether to go in tomorrow. Only not gone in today 'cos I'm not well & couldn't face a confrontation !
There is a mobile number for the area rep on the website, is it acceptable to call him at this time of day ?

I think having our union subs taken from our wages is in some cases working against us all, if the union had to come round and collect them you would at the very least get the chance of a face to face once a week.

Can't really comment on that as I haven't paid any subs since I handed the application form to a rep over 2 weeks ago (and haven't heard a word since. There's a theme emerging here ...).

It would financially cripple the union overnight and that is why we will forever be in the debt of our employer.
It makes for difficult negotiations when the employer has the means to destroy the union in one easy move.
It's a position we should never have allowed to happen but now we are stuck with it ...and what goes with it.

The scary thing IMHO is the fact that neither side is hiding that fact now.
2010 BT - Royal Mail will support the CWU by providing an appropriate level of agreed release and facilities to allow accredited representatives to carry out their roles and support effective industrial relations. This will be underpinned by a professional financial relationship with funding arrangements on a more consistent footing.
