A Pre-Emptive 'Census Shambles' Thread

Alright, alright, this is the beginning of the week in which managers prove they have no planning skills whatsoever . . . oh, no, that was proven the day God made the sun and the sky, wasn't it? Okay, okay. This is the week that an already omnipresent sense of the shambolic evolves into a state of supermassiveness. Many of us are being told that we must deliver 80kg worth of flats over a three-day period, on walks that are already testing our hours to the limit. So, what madness awaits?

I'm predicting that they won't even prep any of the censuses for my walk ready for when I walk in the door. I'm predicting arguments with managers. I'm predicting desperation from managers when I tell them my intentions, which are entirely self-centred 98.5% of the time. I'm predicting idiots coming in even earlier than they usually do to help them keep abreast of the greater than normal workload. I'm predicting chaos around the country as well. It will be a great week.

They should be bringing in extra staff to help sort, prep and deliver all the extra mail but this is RM and they will be attempting to do it on the cheap

Postman don't fear the census.
I know it looks bad ,but when you get down to prepping a big percentage will never make the frame Incomplete address ie. postcode only and illegible address ie crap quality print

The main city in my Mailcentres catchment area is split between 2 DO's.This saturday i saw 60 yorks ready to go to just 1 of em! Good luck!

My office will have 20,000 coming in, so it depends on how many per tray to work out how many yorks we're getting in.

What's this we thing.
Management may have decided to clear them in two days but did they ask your opinion?
You deliver what you can comfortably inside your contracted hours on Monday and Tuesday paying special consideration to the simplified bag weight matrix(16kg first bag Maximum and there after 11kg maximum) and if that's not good enough for your managers....they can deliver the rest.

Delivery of the items in England and Wales is due to commence from Monday the 7th March with the items targeted for delivery on the 7th, 8th and 9th to avoid the heaviest delivery days of the week.

The items themselves will be C4 in size and addressed to the 'Householder' and are expected to weigh 0.129kg in England, N.Ireland and Scotland. The Welsh version will weigh 0.214kg due to being a bilingual version. This indicates that there will probably be weight on delivery and replenishment issues to deal with and suitable arrangements must be in place to deal with this. It is important for Branches to note that this is a valuable contract for Royal Mail which was won in the face of stiff competition, and we hope that there will be a mutual spirit of cooperation when dealing with local arrangements to handle these items.

All the items will be in Yorks and trays and will be walksorted to deliveries.
