he admitted to sending a parcel 'of value' to and address in London without putting the house number on it so it read something like "John Smith High Street London" couldn't work out if he used a postcode not. So, I said "don't worry RM postmen (sorry!) are very professional and they might be abler to work it out from just the name." But he said that it was sent 3 weeks and the eBay customer hadn't received the item. I said " don't worry it'll get RTS'd as incomplete address and you'll get back soon" he said "how they know my address???" Oh dear he hadn't put a return address on it and there was nothing on or in it that would enable anyone to work out who it was for or who sent it.
He asked what would happen to his "expensive" parcel I said it was sent to Belfast and then it all went blank....
I worked O/T at an M/C last year and at the bottom of an autolevel was a brand new and boxed compact camera worth a good £100+ I looked for any obvious damaged packets but couldn't find any.... called a manager over and gave the item to him*. He said it went to a damaged area to be logged etc.
What happens to RLB stuff that can't traced back.... I've heard that letters are burnt and items of value are sold off.Didn't want to tell the customer as I didn't 100% know. I've Googled it and it all appears to be very hush hush i.e. not easy to get any facts either way
SO, firstly what happens to the money from sold off items and does RM destroy/burn items of no value i.e. postcards, letters etc?
Secondly whats the official line that I as an RM employee is meant to tell a customer if asked?
Cheers
* told him "NO I am NOT giving you an early Christmas present!"
