Where is my Special Delivery Item?

Placed an online order for £65.00 worth of goods on Sunday, the Special Delivery Item was collected by Royal Mail yesterday AM. Am i right in thinking that, this item should have been delivered today? I checked track and trace on the Royal Mail website, which advices me that the item was being processed through our network. I payed a extra fee for the special delivery service, which once again has let me down. How do I go about claiming compensation from Royal Mail, as I needed this item urgently today.

As far as i am aware you cannot claim. The sender has to claim for late delivery. You need to contact them to instigate a claim and then see what they will refund you. Sorry if this is not what you wanted to hear but the postage contract is with the sender not the receiver. Hope this helps.

Also it depends what time of day it was posted. If late afternoon, after the last collection, delivery would be guaranteed for the next day but one.

Item was collected by Royal Mail around 11am, so it should have arrived today.

If your special is in a park and loop office, it will be under the thousands of items piled up there.

i've had the Sp Delivery cost refunded. The thing had arrived a day late which i wasnt bothered about but it was the other guys in the office that told me to claim my money back and this was over 2 months after i had posted the thing. Just get a form from the post office & fill it in.

ps on the form it says the sender or the recpient can claim but not both.
