Is each office having a resign? If so over here at NR5 there has been a "planner" in for months working out all the new walks but there doesn't seem to be any provision for part timers??? My OH who has done 15 years seems to have the option of going back to being a reserve which means picking up all the crap the person left the day before. And NO no manager has ever managed a clear frame policy at NR5.
Apparently the planner justs wanders about muttering and going outside for a ciggie!!!
What's happening in other offices?

Our planner has been pretty active (although I haven't seen her for a couple of weeks) she's been out with our rep to test proposed walks,a practice royal mail management frown upon if leaked memos are anything to go by. She's by no means rushing the revision I think our rep has her pretty much reigned in and our office seems to be making space for everyone.the only thing I'm nervous about at the moment is the proposed changes to our start times. It seems every time our times change I end up paying out more childcare money

Hi Rose I believe the way they intend to use PTers (and there's a lot of them) is to cover the days off. Our DO is pushing for the 1 in 4 Saturdays off pattern. Therefore any PTers will be working 3 x 8 hour days, probably Friday, Saturday & Monday. 
Working a FT day but on a PT contract. Stiffed again 
We're going through about the third reincarnation of our Revision and we still see quite a bit of the planner, he seems an OK guy but he's not helped by lack of local knowledge and a Computer Program that makes nonsense out nearly everthing that's asked of it.
Union Rep is testing walks, which bodes well, and we'll be having a Re-sign when they finally sign them off. Hope they're do-able

As regards the PTers being pushed towards a 3 day (F, Sa & Su); I suppose they should have a vote on this and if it is not condusive for a lot of them, they could revolt and ask for a transfer esp if childcare is involved.

Perhaps the Union should start a Part-Timers section? They'd only have to pay HALFthe Union fees because they would only be getting HALFthe benefits. 
In fact we should also start a 12 week contract section as well. They really get some shite!
We should try not to develop an, "Us & Them" attitude. However I believe RM is reaching a Tipping Point were even Full-Time Posties are suffering due to the way the Part-Time system is being abused by RM.
Example: FT Postie doesn't get paid SA for collections because a PT Postie is doing it to make his hours up, and only gets flat rate for doing so.

£1.90 including the 10 pence political levy for a 30 hour week.
180 pence divided by 30 hours is 6 pence a hour.
