day of sick-advice

been ill all night & unable to attend work,from 05.45 to 14.15 i have been phoning the 2 works numbers that i have,one is the office number,other is phg.it is constantly engaged.i also sent a friend of mine a text to let them know i wouldnt be able to come in(unfortunately it turns out its his rota week off) i dont feel well enough to go in an explain.what position does this put me in? thks for any replys.

make a note of times you called.
If you used a mobil you can show LM the calls on your phone.
if LM is being a bit arsey about excuse, On your RTW kick off a bit saying that it could have been an emergency call from an employees or their own families home, it was not your fault no-one answered, if conduct is mentioned ask for a grievance form.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

If things get bad you can get BT to check the reason why the phone was engaged... rumour has is that managers leave the phone off the hook hence the permanent engaged tone but I have no knowledge as the saying goes "I know nothing"
