Rather than sack him just relegate him to delivery staff so he can see what a complete fu*k up hes made.

There will be no enquiry. He will keep his job. It was all the weather's fault. It had nothing to do with the absurd revisions.

At the risk of being more unpopular than I already am on this site ( I know that wont be hard ) but what about an alternaitve view.

The severe weather has I fear let Royal Mail off the hook. Scotland was a no-go area for most of the last two weeks leading up to Christmas , deliveries were cancelled and some offices switched to packets only. The North East and North West were also in a bad way, the midlands and Thames Valley also had days when offices did not got out. Some offices in London and the Kent and Essex had collections and deliveries suspended or risk assesements which stopped HCTs being used on deliveries.

The other bonus for Royal Mail was that Amazon switched all their deliveries to Royal Mail during the bad weather which Royal Mail took with open arms but put more strain on the struggling postal system. Plus Couriers and postal carriers also posted their packets ect into the mail system as it provided a more reliable system,

Yes a lot of packets and letters did not clear by Christmas but I think that Royal Mail will get away with the excuse that it was trying to deliver mail in the worst weather in 30 years.

So the test of wether the revisons are too blame will come in my opinion in March and the start of the financial year.

I don't think they will get away with anything.
What the Christmas period and the subsequent terrible media coverage has done is highlight the problems to customers...these customers will now be monitoring their deliveries much more closely than they would normally and will be much more willing to complain.

What reasons will Royal Mail now use in Dundee and Dunfermline and the rest of east and central Scotland?

The problems are still there....the excuses have left the building.

The problem with everyone at the top, is that none of them know or have ever done the job. All the best workable ideas at our place have come from the staff but are usually ignored for managers ideas. These ideas last about 6 months, cost a fortune and never work. They then go back to the previous plan.

On the contrary i think you would be suprised how many value your opinion, i know i do. Without your input this site would be edging to the extreme i think.

Dont get me wrong i agree with the sheep thing, but this is a forum, as in debate, as in all opinions count. Dingo's undying dedication and faith to the RM/CWU management gives me faith that at least someone in the CWU/PEC does still believe in industrial relations as the best way to resolve issues.

The Weather has got nothing to do with it unlike Politics.
1, day we were not allowed to go out delivering letters only oversize packets ,this was in fresh thick snow easy to walk in,
many of us wanted to go out on letters but were refused.

later on in the week ,most of the snow had been heavily compacticed and frozen solid making conditions very dangerous ,with many suffering fools ,this was like this for 2 days ,yet delivereies were expected to be normal and nothing was said to us about going out at all.

Exactly! We need as many different viewpoints as possible, if we're to learn from each other. We won't always agree. And there will be times, when things get very heated. But in the end, we'll benefit from the debate. At least, that's how I see it.

Yep I think you got that about right, RM state what they want and the sheep follows the lead...............whether that's industrial relations or not

Not all, I had some of my Amazon orders delivered by our rival pkt/pcl delivery companies.
