Delivery revisons update from RMHQ

Post by Big Daz »

The following is taken from todays Royal Mail's Daily Operational Statement, prepared by the Customer Service Communications Team.

Deliveries

Normal deliveries were made in almost all parts of the country yesterday, deliveries should also be made as normal today.
Some customers may, however, be experiencing local delays in areas where delivery route revisions have recently been introduced. These offices currently include: Dundee East, Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwick, Manchester North West, Weymouth and Brinklow, Delivery Offices. We want to assure customers that while our staff become familiar with changes brought about by the modernisation of our operation, we are working hard to normalise service as quickly as possible.

Operational modernisation - delivery route re-organisation

We’re investing £2 billion to modernise our business, to maintain a reliable and effective mail service to our customers. A major part of our Operational Modernisation programme involves the review and re-organisation of delivery routes at our delivery offices. From Monday November 22nd, delivery route revisions were introduced at many of our Delivery Offices around the country. These include for example:
Cheltenham (GL50- 54)
Manchester North East (M9)
Christchurch (BH23)
Hull (HU8 & 10)
Leigh (WN7)
Sheffield City (S1)
Middleton Mcr. (M24)
Belfast South & Central BT7
Lurgan BT65-67

Upon the implementation of the Park & Loops in one sector of our office (and there are 4 sectors),Ive been staggered to see RM managers taking posties off their duties for refusing to do overtime, by either coming in early, or working over .... and placing them onto one of the other sectors still waiting to bring in their park n loops.
Managers reasoning, is these guys are unwilling to make it work. So they put them on walks they`re not familiar with, and as one postie said....."so ill be cutting off on this round as well"
Union doing nothing.
You couldnt make this up. :arrrghhh
Nightmen have been throwing all the d2ds and sequenced mail into frames ready for the posties coming in the morning. Some rounds have been bringing mail back, or the others have been doing overtime. Managers fail to realise that when the nightmen stop giving the posties a good start, its gonna get even worse.
So what will happen when the other sectors come on board, and they start failing ???? It`ll be a right merry go round !!!!

They're deluded!
Familiarity is not the problem.

No it's not.
They keep telling us it's an unskilled job not rocket science.
So when a guy with 20yrs experience who hasn't had a problem completing a delivery in those 20 years suddenly brings back half a walk...i somehow doubt that "becoming familiar" is really going to make much difference.
good times, bad times you know I've had my share

How long can they keep this bluff going ? . Over the years top management have proved that they are incompetent and now they have become liars . Most offices will be delivering as normal because the majority have not implemented revision . What about putting out statistics where revision has been a success .
