Had a meeting with DOM on sat and he mentioned that the new revision will happen in jan and that they might get rid of some sat staff as they are cutting walks any advice guys?

It depends on many things.

1. The current staffing of the office
2. The attendance patterns chosen by the staff
3. The desire ofp/t staff to go f/t.
4. Whether the planner is the same one who f****d Dundee up.

Saturday contract staff are probably still going to be needed, especially if the office wants to move to 1 in 4 Saturdays off (or better) but without knowing everything about the office, it would be impossible to give any meaningful advice.

In my office they've been replacing staff who have left etc with those people Fixed Term Contracts.... I was told that they will be first to go and that its not likely in the short term anyway for there to be a need to 'get rid of' permies. Then again who REALLY knows?

So that'll be 1 in 3 then. I would be very cautious in recruiting without a true revision, because once the planners get in and they use georoute and park and loop and the true figure is used you could find you will be in a tight spot either losing staff or having to utilise part time hours to maintain staffing levels - sooner or later the real world will dawn.

Weve only got 12 duties of that type, everything else is fixed day off. On top of that were still making what is our biggest ever savings to date. Duties had the pegasus treatment 2 years ago so it wont exactly be a shock when the next pegasus revison rolls round again and the number of delivery points will be higher as well and the staffing base will be lower so nowt much to worry about. I know my duty which will go to HCT will need a extra 15 mins travelling time a day and at least the same added on to the delivery to accomadate slower delivery method.

What do you mean by a true figure? IWT used the outcome of pegasus revison we had in 2008 to determine how much of the remainding duty time was actually needed. IWT said we could scrap 156 hours of the remaining weekly time.

We havent got the full 156 hours, but we dont have to. The budget is a managers target and certainly not something the CWU has signed up to.

Its not like 2 Sat only PTers are going to break the bank is it

Interesting set up the 2 in 6 is, whilst it gives a Saturday off in each of the two three week periods, the Saturdays off are not evenly spaced out to give every third Saturday off.

Oh it'll be a shock. The delivery methods revision is like no other, no cars, no bikes, park and loop and trolleys and of course the HCTs......followed or in tandem with the WSMs............are you getting any?.....................No I meant machines

No move of D.O, the bigger D.O up the road wouldn't fit us in.

The smallest D.O in the cluster is propsed for closure the other three stay as they are. I think its about a third of the size of mine in terms of staff levels, which puts it in the 20's.
