any news on revisions in cumbria??

I was wondering how the so called revisions are going in cumbria?? any feedback would be appreciated??

Second day in at Barrow-in-Furness and me and my van buddy did the 2 rounds today (Tuesday )and everything went really well , but we still had to book 1 hours overtime each . This is with no d2d's , and for who knows how long ? we still have another van going out and taking our larger parcels and tracked items . We still have room for a little impovement but I can never see us getting finished on time again . So we will be cutting off or booking overtime , whichever way suits us best .

DAy 3 into park and loop and we both booked 1.5 hours overtime each . So it's cost Royal Mail 19 hours to clear 2 dutys today , plus the money their paying people to go in early to keep on top of the sorting . This is with no d2d's and a extra van driver taking the larger parcels and tracked items but this will only last a for limited time .

When I'm out on the duty I do get paranoid why its taking so long , but when returning to the office and all my fellow park and loopers are arriving back around the same time as me I can relax again . So at the moment safety in numbers .

2 posties asked to use their cars because the managers didn't order enough vans . Our future in their hands .

One positive regarding park and loop , getting the weight off your back by using the trolleys . The trolleys do slow you down because you have to keep going back for it and you can't sort your mail on the way to the next house becauase you've got a bundle in one hand and the trolley in tow with the other. I would say i'm covering about 15% more ground having to return to my trolley and van , plus me and my parner are covering the same ground for at least 45 minutes of the 2 duty's , it's time consuming but that's not my problem .
With hindsight I wish we had used a pedometer just to see what the difference is in distance travelled pre and post park and loop . I hope I never have to carry a bag on my shoulder again but the way the overtime total is adding up I can see managment turning a blind eye to employees returning to old habits .

Yes sad to see people working through their brakes at the Barrow office , I just hope they are booking it down to overtime at the least and not working for nothing . When the union rep comes back off leave it might be an idea to see if he can organise a set break time .

Day 4 into revision and the office is moving closer to total chaos , people were still prepping at 10.30 today .

It looks like Barrow managers are starting to crack . We were told today we can start using our bags again " just use your common sence " he said . I really think common sence needs to be used by people on a higher pay grade than us posties . It looks like management have got two choices , trolleys and smaller dutys ( which I would prefer ) or put everything back to how it was pre revision with the use of bags . I don't blame the managers at our office because at the end of the day s**t rolls down hill .

Have you watched the How To Plan Your WAlk video . I would sell my house , move away from my family and take the kids out of their school to get that duty . It's got no gates , steps , it' flat walking , perfect parking , no traffic , perfectly sized and horizontel letter boxes , customers who answer the door in .50 of a second . Then at the end you even have time to do a interim service on the van . Did Royal Mail resurrect joseph Goebbels the Nazi propaganga minister to direct and edit this video .

Day six .The Barrow office is starting to lose it's discipline . The majority are now working through their brakes and using bags instead of trolleys , I don't know if one or two are still using their own cars but they were earlier in the week . I don't understand this becauase when we were on strike no one went in and there was strong Solidarity .One good point people are still cutting off if they don't want the overtime .

If it comes to job losses I just know that the people doing the job right will be the ones who will get finished . This is where the pressure to cut corners starts becauase at the end of the day I don't want to lose my job . I think the park and loop would work well if we were given realistic targets . Our union rep is off at the moment hopefully when he comes back we can start banging some sense into the people taking short cuts .

kendal office revision cancelled. thats the best practices revision? i think, not the walk sequenced revision-we're planning for that now and due to implement it in march. our office is a miserable toilet, morale at an all time low, everyone dreading xmas pressure, plenty of people considering just working 40 hr week at xmas. heard lancaster and morecambe are in total chaos.

Not too sure about that ... s**t also seems to roll around the back of vans now - (namely from the wheels of the new golf trolleys)

No doubt the real s**t slinging will begin soon ... wonder if the beautiful, wonderful, talented Moyra Greene will grace our office with her highness to see how well we have done

When a customer complains about dog s**t on a letter or packet something might be done .
We need something to segregate the trolleys from the bags and packets rolling around in the back of the van or a mini power washer to clean the wheels .

The End of the second week of revision . The Barrow office is just getting by , if it wasn't for the good will of the staff for working overtime it would be a disaster . God knows what the overtime bill must be . Surely there must be management trawling this web site who think that revision will work out in the end , or is it a 100% disaster and they've just given up the fight . At the end of the day every mad idea gets some support , can this be the first idea in the all of history where everyone agees it's been a total disaster ..

It looks like the penny has finally dropped and the powers that be have realised that revision in it’s current form has failed at the Barrow office . It sounds like we might be getting a revision of revision and some of the duties that were lost may make a reappearance. I actually finished today and the sun had'nt gone to bed , but I won’t get to carried away it was only Tuesday .
