What happens before Phase 2 Flexability

I wonder what peoples take on a recent development in my DO. I was told there was no work for me next week and would be at another office for the week. Now first and foremost are the words "no work for me", not we will be a man over but no work for me. There are others with less seniority than me and floaters also with less seniority than me.
One particular floater is usually sent to other offices when the situation dictates being the least senior in the office. Since Royal mail have forced me on to a 25 hour contract it seems I am surplus to requirements most of the time. Others in the office appealed against the drop in hours and are still on 35 hour contracts. I, on the other hand, accepted what I thought to be the inevitable and succumbed to the 25 hour contract offered me, thinking it would stand me in good stead later on. It seems I have been relegated for this, penalised for something RM forced on me.

Best thing for you now is to wage a war of attrition.

Present yourself at your DO at your normal start time and ask them to arrange to transport you to the other office and arrange for you to be collected in sufficient time for you to return to your DO by the end of your shift. If they are late in returning you, then book overtime.

Hopefully, the hassle of arranging transport in each direction for you every day will prove not worth the effort and they will give up.

The other year I got sent to a rural SPDO. I made sure I went to my own office at my start time and told them they would have to get me out to the SPDO and back. I signed off when I returned to my office. Did'nt take long for them to put me back because I was booking everyday

Just as a matter of interest how did you get forced onto a 25 hour contract?

Just do exactly what Straight4ward recommends, they'll soon get pissed off with taking you and bringing you back, if you get back 10 minutes late then book it, come in on time, leave on time, don't do anything extra, take your break, run in and deliver a 1/6th of your door to door every day, do the job properly but accept you work 5 hours per day, not 4, not 4 1/2 but 5, get your head around that and you'll soon be finding things a lot easier again :)

Forced may have been a bit strong. I was told it was a question of time for PT'ers on 35 hours being made 25 hours so thought it might go easier on me if I went across without too much of a fight.

relitybites working in other offices is coverd in phase 2 flexability (local agreement) i would be very surprised if your agreement didn't stipulate that the staff member with the lowest seniority was first to be moved to another office.

Thats the requierment in our agreement after seeking voulanteers. doesn't happen in practice though.

There is no link it's a local agreement. ask your rep he/she should have a copy of the agreement.

No, wasn't offered a buydown, had no idea what a buydown was until now. Had only been with RM for 14 months at the time though so wouldn't have thought it would have been a lot (if anything).
Will have to get a look at phase 2 flexibility for our office as well, thanks for the heads up.

I'm sure your rep knew what a buy down was.

If you have kids then tell RM that you have to be back by your finishing time.
if they bring you bacl late then claim OT and also ask for x amount to pay the child carer
since you had to fork out extra for being late. This will help your case as well

I'm sure you are right belle, he must have forgotten to explain it to me.
I am not sure if there would have been any entitlement though, would there?
