.....there is no hope for the good guys!

I was driving through Bedford the other day and drove past a car with a RM bike on the bike rack. I looked in as I drove past and the back seat was full of trays of mail

What an idiot

thats one thing i never do i always stick everything in my boot with the parcel shelf covering it i dont even like leaving my royal mail jacket on the back seats as people will assume there is something in the boot , he is obviously an idiot !!! i wouldnt like it if it was my mail on his back seat for all to see !!!

Exactly what I thought.

Not only should he have been on a crew bus with his bike, all that mail in the back of his car should have been dropped out to him. The managers must love him

Don't forget Asda and Tesco would be better run and doesn't expect you to work over and they will provide vans as they need to keep the food in freezer/fridge.

This sounds like one of those 'head in the sand' moments from the managers. They know it's going on but when the postman/woman gets sacked because their car was broken into and mail stolen, they'll quote chapter and verse about doing things by the book.

I feel sorry for this person because they obviously feel under enough pressure to act so irresponsibly. Having said that, they are digging their own grave.

just a few weeks ago they told us no more doorstepping,leaving with neighbours etc
no problem for me but not so good for customers when the leave notes saying leave at No. 8 etc

there again with the negatives !! as iv only jus started 4 months ago on a 6 month temp contract and the round is literally half a mile from my office it makes sense to use my car as i can go straight home !! plus as i havent done my driving with royal mail vans course yet i cant use one even if i wanted to , i tell you what it sure beats using one of them bleedin hcts!!! nice to kno we have all got considerate workmates anyway ffs !!!1

It doesn't make bloody sense.
Firstly I doubt if you are properly insured because I doubt if your DOM has done half the paperwork and checks he should. (Have you had a separate training for lifting bags from the boot of your car?)
Secondly what happens to your Rest Day Cover/ holiday cover/sickness cover - or do they all drive as well? The duty shouldn't need a bloody car on it. It is just laziness on the part of management and POSTIES to sort this sort of s**t out.
Thirdly - is there a list clearly displayed in your DO of all those with permission to use their private car on delivery?

I park my car on my duty and walk,get a bus,lift into the office
half a mile? i walk further most mornings!
its the DIMs problem how you get out.
many a day i have sat 50+ minutes to get out
thats 50+ minutes less delivery time
they love me

you however dont see the bigger picture
maybe when they start hassling you and reminding you that you are a temp you will
