has your office sacked anyone cause of revision

i here things that there will be lots of job loss's after revisions in offices. i dont know if this is true or not but i ask has your office got rid of anybody after a revision? im kind of getting abit worried ive been with royalmail for almost 3 years im full time temp but 20 hour perm which i guess is what they shove me down to after the revision. if i went down to 20 hrs i could handle that but what is the likelyhood of RM sacking us. we have a seniorority list in our offce and out of 70 im about 50th. or are royalmail just not filling in the positions of the posties there sacking? weve lost about 15 full timers replaced with a few part timers over the course of a couple of years. i know most of these are on fixed term or temp contracts so i know there vulnerable but can royal mail sakc someone whos perm? or is it gonna be a natural lay off?

RM say in their 2010 spiel that their AIM is to have no compulsory redundancies but I suppose it depends on your definition of compulsory.

If there is no job at your office for you then they may offer another position at another office of even function. If that is not suitable for you and there are no other options open how Voluntary is EVR/VR.

TBH people worrying about being made redundant or sacked because of modernisation should not worry too much. Most of the job losses, if not 100% of them, will be matched to those wanting to leave, even with the double dip recession and 500K public job losses on the horizon.

You can "buy down" hours and go partime but from what ive heard they arent paying a lot. One of our 10 year guys said he got offered just £7k, but he is full of BS most of the time

He might, He's on a 20hr contract, but is currently consistently work a full 40 per week.

i can because when i applied for the full time permanent driving duty they just put me on temp, its ongoing. i said to my manager am i likely to get put back down he says he will do everything to keep me full time but i know this is all BS.

update. our revision is starting soon. i asked today and my manager says he thinks there will be job loss's :( and most 20 hr ppl will be up to 25 hrs. again i just take this with a pinch of salt. he said thought the work will alwasy be there though which i just dont get with royal mail. its busier than when i first start and packets have trippled as we are in a student area and i am working every sunday now taking the work while its there for who knwos might be none next year. i will keep my head up and just do the job i love. i think the whole country is feeling the same. :s
