Job Cuts in recession.

After hearing about all these spending cuts that are going to be implemented, resulting in many people losing their jobs all over the country. I fear for my job at RM. I'm only part time too. Does anybody think our jobs are unsafe??

Lets think.
500,000 public sector jobs axed to save money : 1,000,000 private sector jobs to go as a direct result of public spending cuts , then add in all the private sector job losses that will occur as a result of the initial mass job losses. If you add to those the 200,000 long term sick who the condems will cure magically overnight ,then your looking at the thick end of 2,000,000 new unemployed people and 2,000,000 less jobs to apply for.
Ever considered opening a PAWN shop or, you could flog those new government emergency loans to the poverty stricken, with the very reasonable 29.9 % apr

Being part time does not mean you will be the 1st to go.
A lot will depend on your revision which 'will lose jobs' but a lot depends on what EVR's are available and it's usually the senior bods who take it so in theory you should be safe.

Hadn't thought of that ,you're right. Hang on though ; 2,000,000 extra feckless work shy layabout's and £18 billion cut from the welfare budget, does that mean the giros will be smaller?
Should be lots more redirections what with every single person under 35 having to move to a single room if they lose their job. God help the single dads trying to arrange access visits when they have to share a lounge with paedo Pete

The amount of part time jobs are hiding the true unemployment figures...I had a long career in another industry which ended spectacularly two years ago,,,,Had I kept that job I would now have the "heart ache" of losing my child benefit as a higher rate taxpayer...Oh woe is me, my heart bleeds for all those pivileged bastions who cant manage on forty grand a year..Two years on i am a part time postman on 24 hours a week, a job I applied for in the main because I hate watching Jeremy Kyle and couldnt face any more job centre humiliation.
I know we all have a good moan on here (and rightfully so) and I may be completely skint these days but I am a hell of a lot fitter and at least I have some sort of job,,, However, I laugh my head off when I hear about all the new jobs being created. Its only going to get worse methinks..!!

Giros? Exactly how long have you been on the sick April? I haven't seen any Giros for donkeys - it's paid directly into their account now. One woman in the area I live is claiming over £35,000 in benefits, 4 kids, 3 dads, none on the scene of course, 50" plasma TV, sky+ HD, Mazda 4 wheel drive, foreign holidays -claims she would need to earn 67k a year to maintain her lifestyle.

Three of us in my house work and we don't earn 67K between the three of us.

Still deliver them on my duty. Apparently there are some that can't get bank accounts even POCA ones.

One woman in the area I live is claiming over £35,000 in benefits, 4 kids, 3 dads, none on the scene of course, 50" plasma TV, sky+ HD, Mazda 4 wheel drive, foreign holidays -claims she would need to earn 67k a year to maintain her lifestyle.

Three of us in my house work and we don't earn 67K between the three of us.

Wow I bet she was watching the spending review closely if she had any sense. If not she may be in for a shock.

I deliver the odd giro,mainly to some single mum....................who is not single.

Another thing,and it realy realy grates me and i have to hold myself when they give me a bit of 'not bills again postman' banter,this couple and their kids have moved into a brand new housing association house,she told me he can't work and he's on dissabilty as he can't go outdoors for long or something like that.

But he's on the drive every day playing around with his 2 year old people carrier and then him and her jump in it and go wherever they fecking go.
