meal breaks cdv

where do you take them in the van as this was mooted at wtl
what are h/s regards this there must be hygiene issues with this practise re basic wash facilities before eating etc
problem is they want to save time with us not returning to office
surely they (rm)must have to supply facilities by law to accomodate

Vans are very unhygienic and not very safe. Last year someone smashed into the back of a RM van while stationary (parked up at the side of the road)...now imagine someone was in it.

Some of our rural drivers do take their break before leaving, the full 40 minutes. Others never seem to take a break and still work to their time and still come in early.....................................and never learn.

On this revision the manager has stated that if he sees anyone with time on their hands he'll fill it...............................you can't get a more stark warning than that.

when i worked in our delivery office i always cut off my packet delivery to drive back to the office for my m/r.our dim eventually noticed this and informed me that i should not be doing this and that i should have my m/r in the van.i told him that there were no toilet or hand washing facilities in the van so i would continue to drive back to the office to have my break.dim responded with"in that case the travelling time from and back to the (10 mins each way)office was to come off my m/r".after i stopped laughing i told him that i was due a 40 minute break and a break did not include driving so he could put that idea where the sun don't shine.i also informed him that h+s would be informed if he continued with his stupidity and a grievance would be put in against him for bullying and harrassment aswell.nothing was ever done so i imagine he gave up on the idea.the real reason he had a hissy fit with me was because i cut off at the end of my duty almost every day as i had way to many packets to deliver.you have to stand up to these bullies or they will walk all over you.

Ive been stopping for a 20 min break in the van for the last 5 years, ever since they put 2 extra roads on my walk and caused me to stay out for up to 4 hours, sometimes 5 with absorbtion. I have a stop where i take a leak and can wash my hands.

Ive never really thought too much about the safety eating in the van its prob not the best place but i do clean it out and wipe down the dash with wet wipes every now and then. Mind you ive never caught food poisoning of the van

Get A Grip what we coming to most of delivery are hard pressed to even get a break, most of the country are struggling to keep job's why are bitching about where we have a break I work rurals and have happily had a coffee stop from a flask in a van.What's the trouble there.

Does the flask double up as a urinal - perhaps people would like something more than a quick swig of coffee - perhaps they would like something hot on a cold day - bear in mind now that the CDVs are in and there WILL be mixed pairings and there are certain requirements that a young woman may need in the course of the month. You shouldn't need to compromise personal hygiene to keep your job Turpin ............

Madness though really if you sat an interview and they said" Well you need to use your own car, work compulsery overtime and have no meal break oh and come in early for nothing" you would be wondering what the hell your coming into yet this happens nearly every where. Me thinks we have created our own problems.....
