Why are Royal Mail managers so crap ?

This is a serious question.

I, like a lot of other Posties I work with, have worked for several other Companies. The majority are in agreement that the quality of Managers within Royal Mail is absolutely useless !!

What qualities do RM look for in their managers ?

No wonder we are going "Down The Pan".

Soylent Green needs to look at the abilities of her Management.

Not fit for purpose, with a few exceptions. Like chucking cut nails in a juicer ,thick ;too many rough edges ;unable to bend ;and guaranteed to f**k up the works

The good manager
The role is crucial if a business is to succeed. A manager can create a culture that makes you the employer of choice, which in turns attracts staff likely to ‘engage’ with and become advocates for your business.

And with these good managerial skills come ‘engaged’ employees, who…

* are more likely to recommend their organisation to others
* take less sick leave
* are less likely to quit

These factors alone will see improved retention and, therefore, reduced recruitment costs – a valuable asset when the average cost of recruiting a new staff member is over £8,000.

Royal Mail managers appear crap to us, but that's because they are clearly living in a parallel universe.
Nothing they say or do bears even the slightest relation to anything happening in my world.

On induction they have the brain and rectum swapped over. This ensures they talk crap and give out BS ALWAYS.

The brain now in the Harris department makes a few new friends tho very quickly, mainly the few posties with very long tongues who can often be seen in the damagers office, ensuring his/her round reamins cushy by telling tales about workmates.

LM's are so f***ing useless because they were all crap postmen who could'nt do the job properly, cut corners, lazy skiving gits. They have no people management skills. All they can do is bully people, the power goes to their heads. To be honest we could do with losing all the LM's in my office, no one would notice because we would just get on with it.

It does not matter if a Dom is good or bad,what matters is what the DSM thinks.

So you can have a god manager,who has complied with every Thing acheived as many savings as possible but DSM thinks their are a lot more savings to be made !

Our office,a DOM lasts max 1 year MAX,some will hide the true figures,and hope they dont get caught ,but nearly always do,so booted out ,others tell the whole truth to DSM ,he thinks they are not up to the job so gets booted out.
Not a great advert for a job,why do so many Doms have stress and alcol problems ,due to DSM ,

You have to be very brave or foolish to be a DOM.

At our place it is a hereditary thing: their fathers were crap so they are crap too.(Nepotism is the key to promotion in our office.)

they would get hung out to dry in any other decent company,which is why we aren't allowed any outside agencies in any of our disciplinary processess,all the head honchos know that bullying & harrassment go hand in glove & know that we can do frig all about it,put in a grievance,it gets worse
& common sense is a swear word
we have a decent relief manager who steps in (our dom gets shortness of breath just getting out of bed) the LM treats him like a postie,lapse this take out that ,frame check this etc.
i laughed when he told me to go up to the doms office & bring down his laptop when i was on rehab,he had me in the office when i said no,i was still laughing when he told me to get out ( full week of RLB tho )
