Sickness levels

Since the increase in the amounts of absorbtion in our office the sickness levels are at a all time high.

What I really wonder about is the long term effects of doing the mega size walks.Whilst many walks ae still manageble most days
if every thing goes to plan,the sheer amount of distance you have to walk,even pulling a trolley ,coupled with going up and down stairs /steps, wondering about the stress levels upon the body ,especialy the knee joints and hips etc.

I fail to see how doing these huge walks dayin day out ,in a time constrained period is conductive to your health long term.

This really concerns me ,not just for my own well being but my mates as well,especially when all you are keep hearing is about leg/knee problem.

Course if we had a good national union they would look into this ,rather than hide away.

What better way to get rid of the full time contracts but medically retire the lot of us. Its all a ploy. Just as absorbtion is a way of making people think that when the bigger walks come in they are not so bad cos at least absortion will be finished... maybe?

A. The system will remain the same as now, with DOMs identifying spare capacity with their teams and the union rep. Shared Van deliveries will provide a more structured approach to work with. Typically, the DOM will identify a walk or number of shared van walks close to the office that other shared vans will pass through or near.

Shared van walks are split into a number of loops, and each shared van capacity will take an additional loop to deliver. As the loops are planned they will have a known and equal time. Shared van delivery frames should identify and order these loops.

So what happens is what was happening or is happening with P&M where the guy/s who are near the office will be thrown off for absorption sake.
This was something that was bought up by many as out of order and very much argued against yet now it's official!

I think that sickness levels (and the money they will have to fork out to cover them) is definitely something that the suited RM planning chimps haven't allowed for in their calculations of how much P&L will save. I could count on one hand the number of sick days I've taken in my four years at RM, but once P&L is in I can see myself taking a lot more, as there have been quite a few borderline days in the past where I have managed to motivate myself to get up and go in. That motivation will soon be gone for good.
