Don't worry about it, if you personally can't do it then cut off, the old tired excuse of "well he can do it so why can't you" is out of the window and that if this used against you then simply say "well i can't"
CUT OFF!!!

Tell him to poke his yardstick up his arse....it's an empty threat.
He knows he isn't going to time any walks...he is just hoping that you lot don't know that.

Re: Royal Mail Bullying 4 hour delivery timed on quickest po
Oddly ft, when we went on to CDVs, one pair had a delivery that was way over. They had them in the office on several occasions and in the end they did test it. Not once but twice, each time with a different pair of workers - eventually they removed part of the delivery but it did take...... oh about 18 months. The problem will be resolved under the new revision. There has been quite a bit of input this time and at face value it looks OK but we will lose a few jobs, that won't actually occur because we have been holding vacancies for some considerable time. The timing is unfortunate so close to Xmas......but hey if it works then it will work anytime.fishtank wrote:Tell him to poke his yardstick up his arse....it's an empty threat.

I've got the same going on at my D.O looking like a overall staffing figure of 65 compared to 71 when we had pegasus. Two FT are retiring by the end of the year and Im looking to have them replaced so therefore the drop in FT is therotical and not actual. 56 FT staff at the mo going down to 54 and hopefully back up to 56,but still delivering savings on the pegasus budget.
It will only be 12 months after implementation when DMS/WS/39 HOUR week all come along complete with flying horse software and planner, assuming that is the WS machines are installed on time. By that time may be a few more retirements coming up which may offset the loss of dropping off bags/ delivering oversized packet jobs

I imagine that RML will aim for PT to replace FT retirees post sequenced revision although with housing growth its possible to kep FT jobs on the basis of longer spans.
What puzzles me is that many posters on this site have claimed how little time sequenced mail saves and yet all of a sudden the talk is about the much longer spans that will come about with sequenced mail.
So does sequenced mail save lots of time or not?

No but it will reduce the amount of time on IPS which means (in theory) longer delivery spans. My office does 4 1/2 to 6 hours spans and all in an 8 hour day.Big Daz wrote:I imagine that RML will aim for PT to replace FT retirees post sequenced revision although with housing growth its possible to kep FT jobs on the basis of longer spans.

Am i right in saying that 'on paper' the WSM's saves 19mins per 1000 letters,so if that is put in the mix that will throw up spare time won't it hense the longer delivery s**t.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

The saving is not in prep time but on IPS. If each man does 1.45 and that is brought down to 30 mins you have saved 1 hr 15 per man and THAT is what translates into longer delivery spans or fewer FT posts.POSTMAN wrote:Am i right in saying that 'on paper' the WSM's saves 19mins per 1000 letters,so if that is put in the mix that will throw up spare time won't it hense the longer delivery s**t.

it makes a big diffrence if you don't know the frame. Walk sorted mail saves far more time and we now get that of sorts for some of our flats.Big Daz wrote:I imagine that RML will aim for PT to replace FT retirees post sequenced revision although with housing growth its possible to kep FT jobs on the basis of longer spans.

Longer spans are coming about because they are an 'enabaler' doesn't mean you'll have time to do them.

Or has he? This may be a shot in the dark but some areas will have to be overstaffed if the 75/25 is to be maintained - how else can you maintain that. If the workload falls below a certain level you cannot sustain 75/25 - it makes you wonder if some areas have been ring-fenced against cuts.BELIAL wrote: You got some s**t coming your way Daz. 9 PT /56 FTOur office is running on 45/55% ratio ,all bent and corner cutting, but as far as RM are concerned it is a viable working model(till it goes tits up)

It depends upon what mail center serves.
If it is the newly opened South midlands, only a small amount of mail is sequenced, officialy described by Doms as a Shambles

Can only tell you about my office; Sequenced mail will save you about 7-10 mins for 500 -700 slot frames depending on traffic if you are fairly familiar with the prep. The only effect sequenced mail has had on our IPS is to increase the amount of manual mail and sorting time. Presumably because the sequencing machines operate with less tolerance. You will spot the extra manual , it comes in mixed trays of about 12 walks.Big Daz wrote:I imagine that RML will aim for PT to replace FT retirees post sequenced revision although with housing growth its possible to kep FT jobs on the basis of longer spans.

Still never seen a tray of WS flats despite the fact that our MC is supposedly up to speed
