Has anyone else heard that as of 1/11 Royal Mail are withdrawing or not renewing the insurance bond and consequently there will be no more private cars on delivery?
I heard it from a reliable source though according to a rep it is the end of the year, but the DOMs have got to put in place arrangements by the end of the month.

No chance,the place will fall apart.Very much doubt this is true.
Funny though,our boys have to bring their documents in this week for checks.1st time in over 5 years!
As we all know the no cars thing is total bollox,it is only supposed to come in when each office get's their CDV's.
It should of come in straight away but RM aint that stupid.

never happen at ours,DOm is getting grief as it is for asking for 3xhire vans per week,i would say we have 13 odd using their own cars

Lets say you have a partner with the shared vans, and decides s/he takes the car instead of going with you...what then? I don't think RM will let this one fly by them so easily.

however the new new new improved revision seemingly is creating frames that are written for P&L
so it wont be in sequence and folks will have to P&L

I don't drive so I don't really understand such things but as far as I understand it RM provides some sort of insurance, and they are not going to renew it.

Is private car usage for travel out to and back from a delivery route permitted?
No. Once new delivery methods have been provided via the revision, and the agreement to use private cars ceased for all individuals, no use of private cars is permitted whilst on duty. To illustrate the point: for shared vans, it is not permissible for one of the pair to drive the Royal Mail vehicle out to the first delivery point, whilst the partner drives out their own vehicle to park in the delivery area. Permitting this will create a less clear policy for the DOMs to manage.

It's basically just RM's insurance cover note from 2008/9 for PCOD.
Interestingly they were insured by AIG...didn't they have to be bailed out by the U.S. goverment for taking too many risks?

Once your office has delivery methods deployed be that CDVs or HCT you will all sign for the equipment and any bonds which are in place for the use of private cars will be withdrawn.
All staff will be advised that Royal Mail has banned the use of private cars in your office. If someone chooses to use their car from then on they are not just likely to be in breach of Royal Mail`s rules and likely to be taken down the conduct code if caught but they are in breaking the law.
They will not be insured if they get stopped with mail bags in the car , or if they have a crash , or if anything gets stolen.
It will not happen all at once , but it will happen when your office has a delivery methods revison.

All private car drivers at our office has been told that as of 1st Jan 2011 they cannot continue using them. 
Rows of houses all bearing down on me........I can feel their blue hands touching me.......All these things in all positions.........All these things will one day take control..........

We've done a CDV revision, and we had cars banned, took a while to get through to a number of people, but I believe it is being adhered too. Felt very good to bring this into the office
