RM Footwear ???

Haven't read the article yet but someone stated that we are only allowed one pair of Cats or Magnums per year.

My Cats last a max. of three months. Anyone else have same problem. RM buys shite gear !!

Mine lasted about seven months after starting to be fair but when they were worn through to sole, with holes in, I was told by the uniform bods I had to have managers authorisation to get a new pair as had not been with RM a year. Clearly approaching my half century I am not yet grown up enough to decide if my shoes are worn out or not !!!

There is no footwear, anywhere in the world, that could handle the amount of walking we do every day, of every weeek, without falling to pieces after a few months.

And with postal workers facing an increase in their daily footfall, thanks in the main to naff revisions currently underway, there never will be, either.

The rule used to be that you were allowed 1 pair of shoes and 1 pair of boots every 8 months. Whenever I phone and order I just ask for shoes if I'm currently wearing boots (or vice versa).
Or ask a manager to authorise it ... if they ever get around to it.

An article in the latest 'Courier', states that we are allowed one pair of trainers a year, and one pair of boots every 2 years. Also failure to wear the right shoes / boots will be dealt with through the conduct code.

I like the Cat trainers, very comfortable, once they stop rubbing the heal. The only problem I have is (as already mentioned) they wear out after about 3 months. After that they become a danger to wear. Also when they get wet, they do not dry out overnight, so we really need 2 pairs of trainers. That way we don't have to go into work with wet trainers on.

Regarding the Cat trainers, my 1st pair (without the RM label) lasted a bit longer. I wonder if any change was made to the materials, to make them cheaper !

I wasn't aware that I allowed a pair of boots as well as my trainers, I've just got to find the right pair to odrer for the winter. Any recommendations ?

Shoes are most important things we wear at work, cost cutting is not good. If they do they will get more injuries and pay sick pay to people.
