are the customers never wrong?
i get the impression that customers are never wrong, and we are alwasy wrong. example. yesterday and today i had 2 woman rant at me. today was just funny. i was dropping some bags off in a drop box and after i walked back to the van., a woman pulls up in her tank, runs out waving a letter and comes to me. 'here you go' i said, ' oh im not collecting just stick it in the mail box' she said what time does it come. i said, 'what does it say on the mail box.' '10am' she said. 'well its 1015 now so youve prob missed it.' 'oh so has the mail been collected then?' she said. 'well probably unless hes late which i doubt but i dont know' i said. ' she started toget angry towards me. she shrugged her shoulders and walked to the letter box and put the letter in started walking to her tank smiling at me and said, 'thats why royal mail is going down the pan, BGECAUSE OF PEOPLE LIKE YOU.' lol ??????????
what can you say to these people? ive learnt that they just want to be right and have you aggree and say sorry and beg for forgiveness. if i explain to thme, there either not interested or get angry. if i say sorry and walk off to avoid conflict they get more angry and start name calling and if i just ignore and say nothing there angry and abusive. now this is a small minority, like 1 in 5 thousand ppl but there just so pathetic and need to get a life or hobbie or someting.

Re: are the customers never wrong?
I nearly got ran over today (partly my own fault). After dropping back to the pavement I kind of nodded to the driver to keep going (in what I thought was an apologetic manner). Window dropped down, wave of abuse ensued, 'cause apparently I gave them a violent jerk of the head . . .
. . . so, in answer to your question, customers are not always right, but they are known to be qunts quite often.

Re: are the customers never wrong?
A few months ago I was collecting from a postbox inside a supermarket, on return to my van I approached a zebra crossing the bloke walking in front of me stopped, I went passed him as we had right of way. This crazy bitch in a merc decided to floor it straight at me just because I has dared excercise my right of way. I'm not lying when I say I had to dive out the way of the car. So I jumped in the van and collared her further into the car park, to say I went my ends with her would be an understatement, her reply was 'you mouthy bastard, I'll get you sacked'. My reply was let's see what the police say about your dangerous driving, at best without due care and attention. Needless to say I got a grovelling apology once the mobile phone came out and I pretended to ring the fuzz. What are these idiots problems.

There was a time when posties were respected, but since Leighton&Crozier destroyed the service,
some people seem to think it's our fault, and that they have the right to treat us like servants, and
abuse us if they want to take their frustrations out on someone.

Re: are the customers never wrong?
It amazes me how many people just keep going at a zebra crossing. They should put a camera on them and instantly revoke the license of anyone who keeps going when there's a pedestrian waiting. I always stop at a zebra crossing and wait to be allowed across - even though I shouldn't have to, in theory.lenat wrote:A few months ago I was collecting from a postbox inside a supermarket, on return to my van I approached a zebra crossing the bloke walking in front of me stopped, I went passed him as we had right of way. But remember for all the nasty, mouthy people there are out there, there are also the lovely, sweet customers that appreciate what we do delivering to them in all weathers, the mouthly ones just don't realise how vindictive posties can be, (well at least I can be!!) You might have a parcel for them and maybe flag them down as they pass you on their way to work, if they're nice but the ones who aren't get a nice wait docket "sorry you were out" heehee Makes it worthwhile sometimes

Re: are the customers never wrong?
They don't drive anywhere LL, they employ a chauffeur. I've seen top bods turn up at my place in chauffeur driven cars. I wonder how much that is costing

Ive had pretty much the same situation a double drop box joined onto a pillar box
difference being i was loading my red bag
do they really think posties collect in the red bag and do delivery at the same time?

Yes they do.custard wrote:

I would think every delivery postmen has encountered this problem.
The general public don't work in our industry. They don't know what a drop box is. They don't really understand the difference between collections and deliveries. Why should they?
If they see a postman at a post box with mail, it must seem the most natural thing in the world to hand him the letter they want to post.
And they don't stop to think because they are just happy to "have caught the post".
Unless you've got the time to explain how the Royal Mail works (or doesn't) including the plans for the next collection review, it is easier just to take their letter, wait until their back is turned and then just post it for them.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

The worst thing you can ever do is take a letter of a customer as if it goes missing you are automatically a tea leaf
Run, rabbit run. Dig that hole, forget the sun.
And when at last the work is done. Don't sit down, it's time to dig another one

I take letters on a daily basis as might be expected in such a rural area and never any problems.Pat Ostman wrote:The worst thing you can ever do is take a letter of a customer as if it goes missing you are automatically a tea leaf
