Don't back the union on this one guys, they will want us to take industrial action not to sell or privatise the company, it's pay back time now sod the union they sold us down the river only months ago, let's face it, new owners carn't do any worse than what it is now, I have always said in revisions when RM wants to take out 5 walks we always disagree, I always say let them take it, let them sell it now, the union is going to lose us hundreds of pounds In forseeable strikes, but the Government has made their mind up already. It might be better in the long run.

i have always supported the union and spent all the strike days we had on the picket line but not any more. Hayes and Ward knew this was coming so should have stuck to their guns before instead of shafting all of us just to get a quick deal,which i must add did not do any of us any favours. So now the time has come to Not be brainwashed by the top union officials and do what i think is best for me.

The union is good at local level but CWU HQ worsened our conditions with the last two disputes.

If we are privatised, yes we may have to drop to £5.85 a hour but for year 1 by law they must keep our rate as it is. So, hopefully lots of people will be doing useful things before this drop, ie looking for better jobs or going back to uni/studying. I said months ago that privatisation was on the cards.

You would have to be insane to work on deliveries for minimum wage TBH wages may be cut slightly, but bonuses for hitting targets will be introduced. I know DHL get bonus payments.

You are right up to a point in regards to the union at local level, but from my experience, too many of the union reps are way out of their depth and the bosses run rings round them.

There is no disagreement though from me in respect of the last two rounds of industrial action. I voted no for the shambles of 2009, which resulted in an agreement which has been a total disaster for all of us. The likes of Dave Ward and Billy Ward should resign. Lame ducks spring to mind in relation to these two.

The Tories and Lib Dems have pulled a master stroke in leaving the Post Office network out of the privatisation. I suspect the You-Gov poll was influential in all of this. The public do not want their local post office in private hands. Sadly though, they are less than enthusiastic about mail centres and delivery offices, due to our lamentable industrial relations.

All in all, we are in for a rough few years with pay and conditions set to be reduced in the drive for profit and a hefty reduction in the workforce. None of us are safe.

One final point. Door to door is a good source of revenue for the Royal Mail. The above correspondent should not have lost out in payments for this. Yet again, the bosses have had their cake and ate it whole, served to them on a plate by the CWU.

If a strike ballot is called, I'm voting NO & I'm telling everyone else to do the same, BUT if official strikes are called, then I might feel compelled to come out on strike ( even though I might think the effect will be the same as the Charge of The Light Brigade )
