Had a meeting with the planner and DOM today,sets out what routes they consider will be achieveable with HCT after a brief disscussion we agree to look at some in more detail within the parameters of agreement,within the hour DSM on the phone C.D.V's no HCT's that's the way to go........a wonder why, no PDA's with HCT's so no tracked, no overweight parcels with HCT's so more parcel duties left in.(CWU) minimal impact into revisions if DSM gets his way of course!!!!.......... the DSM is running the show telling the DOM's whats in and what's out and that's becomming more evident everyday but lucky for me...........the dom said we'll do what's best for the office to maintain full time emplotment(objective) thus creating as many duty sets as possible..........and lucky for him as he was left in no doubt the agreement was getting followed with regards to Delivery methods amongst everything else.Interesting times.......HCT the way to go if terrain fits maximises duties 3.30 hours don't forget (possibly 4 if you don't believe the outputs of Geo Route.......?????? been through it) and gives the odd member the oppurtunity to keep working by himself if he wants.Question everything,Negotiate everything and don't take the planner's word for everything on the agreed tools.........?????????.Remember critisising the system is like critisising the planner himself and he/she will become defensive as its his/her's little baby which they don't like.but you need too.Wrong forum can someone move it to where it's more appropriate.Sorry Knackered!!!!!!!!

I was told cvd was the most economical as the vans can be sold off after a few years with less maintenence costs therfore in a short term period its cheaper to have vans then electric hcts?

Sold off?? we have CDVs over 6 years old now in my office, they're only replaced if they are totally fubar now.

The Bippers are about 3/4 the size of a Combo and in my office is only used for the really light deep rural (we all laughed when we heard that they're to be used as van shares).

Spot on DGP - when these "minivans" arrived we had to shuffle the fleet about to get the CDV pairs sufficient space to fit everything in.

We use HCT on 3.5 hrs walks at the moment, the problem they will have on deliveries over that time span is the
HCT dosnt have the capacity to carry that much mail and packets and therefore bags would have to be dropped off
by a support driver but support/packet drivers will no longer exist as their 'plan' is to get rid of these with the CDV.
