I am back to being a reserve as of next week after 8 months covering a float. And will insist and stand firm that I have my six week rota long weekend.

if you have that in your contract thats worth a fortune! i doubt it though, contract will state hours per week, sorry

But if you consistantly fail to get a specific day off every 6 weeks ( as what usually happens, is you get dumped with a Tuesday off, week in, week out ) then you can put a grievence in on the basis of being discriminated against ( duty holders and duty covers getting the days off you aren't given )....can you imagine a 20 or 30 year man accepting the same situation?snoopy777 wrote:part of contract?

Why not? You can't spend time with your family on a Tuesday when the wife's at work & the kids are at school.....what happens if you have a wedding or a gathering to go to, but manager can't be arsed to give you a Saturday off....what if ( as is currently happening for me ) you put your name down for OT ( SA collections ) during the week, but never knowing if you will get your SA on a work day ( due to your D/O bouncing around all over the place )snoopy777 wrote:can see the ET now - so postman X you have had a rolling day off for 20 years when others have not? - ans yes.

It's simple and i've posted it a thousand times.
You get the reserve list and make a kind of chart/rota.
You note down what day off each reserve gets off.
In time you will be able to see who has had the most Saturdays off.
You will then get to a situation that when a duty comes up and it has a Sat off,you go down the list to the reserve who has had the fewer or none Sat off.
If it means the senior reserve misses out then that is what happens as hopefuly you will be able to work it so everyone has a fair crack of the whip.
Oh and also,don't let management change the day off of a duty you are covering.
You get the day off that is due on it,not a fecking Tuesday as it's easier for management.
Reps should stop this anyway!
