How do you define REHAB
I am currently on rehab, doing half a walk, going up to 2/3 next week and so on. ATOS have set out these guidelines and sent them to my manager. I am on a part time contract, just doing the outdoor element of the job. He informed me today that he has to find something for me to do indoors for the remaining 2 hours??? I thought rehab was a gradual return to work at a pace that suited you?

Re: How do you define REHAB
Did the rehab programme state a gradual ramp up in your hours worked alongside the outdoor walking element,or did it just stipulate the percentage of the walk you could do.
If it did not then Dom is doing nothing wrong asking you to do your contract hours.
Also any rehab programme you agree with ATOS has to be with your consent.

I don't think there's a problem with him asking you to do your contracted hours as long as it's something you're able to do.
If he's asking you to go running up and down the office then that's different to sitting on your a*se doing the deads or something.

Re: How do you define REHAB
I am concerned that he is expecting me to be able to do half a walk in an hour and a half when my injury is slowing me down. If I do indoor work up until an hour and a half before my walk is due. I will not finish on time. Do I bring back any that will take me over my hours?
I have an RSI related injury that precludes a lot of the indoor element, my doc advised answering the phone only as anything else would aggravate it, including using a crayon to scrub addresses!!! Dom had me throwing in walks and other rsi unfriendly jobs before this.

I would suggest rb that you assess what YOU think you are capable of delivering in an hour and a half and only take that with you....the rest he can shove where the sun don't shine..realitybites wrote:I am concerned that he is expecting me to be able to do half a walk in an hour and a half when my injury is slowing me down. Get your Dr to put in writing what you are capable of. If RM choose to ignore this and you go off sick again, they will be deemed negligent for ignoring Dr's advice.

Re: How do you define REHAB
I did the rehab bit 18 months ago when I badly pulled my back. This consisted of working the inquiry counter to 10am and then a 1/3 of a deliver building up ½ the 2/3 etc. I did this for 3 weeks and found it helped to get back up to speed. My dom was good really and allowered me to increase the amount as I felt ready.
Don’t feel pressurised to take on more than you can cope with, take your time and get well.

Rows of houses all bearing down on me........I can feel their blue hands touching me.......All these things in all positions.........All these things will one day take control..........

My lino was a complete arse about my rehab. The DOM wasn't too bad but he wasn't there.

Re: How do you define REHAB
I think it was a simple case of knowing i would go home sick at any time as i was in a fair bit of discomfort. Knowing the till etc and running the enquiry counter singl handed help my case. Mind you she was not so worried as my duty was covered by extra lapsing at zero cost anywayAprilaydee wrote:Sounds like your DOM could be compared to Hens teeth?krussel wrote:I did the rehab bit 18 months ago when I badly pulled my back.
