Anyone else doing an apprenticeship?

Hi there, New to the forums but I thought I'd ask if there's anyone here currently undertaking one. I've been doing my apprenticeship with royal for 4 odd months now and have had my good times and my bad, but probably the worst thing being the imbalance of the duties across the office (that i've worked on), Some taking much longer than others with some requiring running up every close to finish in good time with the heavier d2d contracts like magazines while some are pretty cushty but NOT based on seniority. I've done training as a PHG and covered for one after being in the job for around 3 weeks (Which was a shocker, given I didn't know anything about most of the district's routes), handled alot of unclaimed surcharges which had become excess due to lack of staff hours to handle them and done walks across our whole office. Possibility of me becoming a floater now that I've spent a while covering the sickies (5 different different duties a week normally) and then people's annual leave, Which was considerably better, for the last two months.
Overall though I was just wanting to know from someone who's either passed their apprenticeship or is currently doing one if it will really have any effect at all in your career in royal mail and if so how? I've heard from older members of staff about their experience being cadets long long ago but since our office hasn't had any apprentices (That Im aware of) I could really use some input.

get out while you still can. id suggest joining a company based in a third world country as you will have better prospects and they will treat you better

its not really an apprenticeship - just a way of paying you less cos your young and gaining a payment for the "apprenticeship" aswell as other companys would

u cant transfer these skill anywhere else and you wont be better off than anyone starting that isnt an apprentice

take a look at the lifes of some of the men there do u really want to be like that?

IM sure there more then happy to make apprenticeships full time becuase there paid alot less..

I was a cadet and when the 2 years came to end, RML abandoned me into the system with zero interest in trying to develop you further.

Maybe thats why many have become reps, so we can still make a postive difference to the comapny and its staff.
