Only allowing 12 hours to cover sick leave

Been told today that only 12 hours in the daily budget is gonna be allowed to cover sick. Any others above this the duties will have to be absorbed. .Hasn't anyone told royal Mail you cant get blood out of a stone

Apparently you can:

PCOD
Early starts
D2D prep outside working hours and beyond spec.
No meal relief
Overweight bags

etc ad nauseum

All will help free up hours for absorption - but hey its a personal choice after all that affects only those individuals.

Whilst checking my duty for the week on the rota board, I counted more than 20 people on annual leave this week. We also have 4 long term sick. 2 maternity leave and 4 on loan. On paper our office this week is running 30 men down. We are lapsing 4 days a week on 4 walks and still people are coming in early, throwing off d2d in their own time, working meal relief, going out on buses/own cars and working over their time for free. The same old 1/2 a dozen people do the job properly and cut off and they wonder why we are going to be lapsing 6 days a week soon?

And a nice big bonus at the end of the year for the manager coming under budget. I think they can get up to ten per cent of budget savings.

Yes, lets not forget that all this cost cutting pays managers a big fat bonus, and maybe this is what you should be indicating to the flyers, when they realise their corner cutting means dosh for the boss, they might just see sense.

To be honest I took it with a pinch of salt till one of our locker duty guys went into the doms office and came out with a Lexus catalogue. The manager was boasting that he was going to trade up his 4 year old BMW on the strength of the bonus this year.

Could still be a wind up but with guys on the floor struggling to pay food bills its not all that funny really.

Over here they get 4k (they admitted it once ) but a couple of years ago they got 9k for hitting their targets

He's right. A lino in our area paid for a 59 plate brand new Vauxhall with his bonus
